When Pinkie Pie woke up with floppy eyebrows, a bouncy knee, and a twisty ear, she knew. Her Pinkie-Pie-Ultra-Super-Special-Birthday Sense was NEVER wrong. All throughout the day, wherever they happened to be, anyone who wasn't Minako would suddenly find themselves accosted by a pink party pony on the prowl. "HEY! It'sMinako'sbirthdaytodaysowe'regonnahaveaTOTALLYSUPERSECRETsurprise party! So don't tell ANYBODY and be in the cafeteria tonight before six okay bye!" she whispered all in one breath before darting away again, intent on informing the entire Satellite about the special day.

By the appointed time, the cafeteria was entirely decked out in red-and-white streamers and balloons, with a big sheet cake reading "HAPPY BIRTHDAY MINAKO!" and covered in red frosting-bows. It was hard to see the decorations, though, what with the entire room being shrouded in darkness. New arrivals were quickly pulled through the door by Pinkie. "Get ready!" she whispered. "Terra's supposed to be bringing Minako soon!" Since Terra and Minako seemed to be good friends, she'd put him in charge of making sure the birthday girl got to her party.

Well, that was probably true, she'd only been in there for a few minutes. Still, didn't girls not like it to get dresses dirty or anything? Not that they were walking any where but the decks, but still. Terra wasn't sure he'd ever understand girls though, the only girl he'd really ever known was Aqua, but comparing Minako to Aqua wasn't going to work because they were just so DIFFERENT. Aqua certainly wouldn't have changed clothes just to go on a walk, let alone wear a dress. Though she would probably look good in the dress Minako was wearing.

Terra was drawn from his thoughts when he suddenly felt Minako pressing against him. He looked down to find she had hooked her arm into his and was leaning against him. Terra's cheeks turned a little pink. What was she DOING? Should he say something to her? Would that be rude? "Uh, y-yeah, let's go."

"Yes, let's!"

This was....just so awesome. She was with Terra. She was with Terra!....Aww, and he was blushing~!

"Soooooo," Minako smiles. "What do you want to talk about while we walk?"

Crap! Another flaw in his plan! He hadn't thought of a single thing they could talk about! He knew Pinkie should have gotten someone else for this. Think, Terra, Think, what could he talk about with Minako? He couldn't even talk about the weather because they were on a STUPID SATELLITE!

"I dunno...what have you been up to lately?"

"Oh! Well, I did the riff and I've been working on sketches and stuff....oh!" Minako grins. "I also found a secret room in the library~"

Pause.

"Well, not exactly a room...it's more like a closet...but it's kind of awesome regardless~"

Leave it to Minako to find something interesting to talk about. Terra blinked in surprise, "A secret room? Really? What was in it?" He'd explored a lot of the satellite so it was strange that he had managed to over look something like that.

"Yeah! It has these tapes and these script books in them. They're not marked like anything that are on the main shelves." Oh, Terra. If only you knew what she was thinking they might be. "Maybe we can watch them together sometime and see what's on them!"

"Hmm. That sounds interesting," Terra muttered, pondering what they could possibly be. Why weren't they on the main shelves for starters? He nodded, "Yeah, we could do that. I bet the others would be interested in finding out what's on those tapes too."

He stopped walking when they got to the end of the hall and discreetly pulled away from Minako so he could open the door and get to the next deck, he did, however, hold the door for Minako.

"Yeah! Maybe...maybe there's a clue to how to get out of here, yeah?"

Then he went and opened the door for her. Such a romantic gesture!

"Aaaah...!" Minako clasped her hands together, feeling her cheeks redden slightly. "Thank you! You're such a gentleman."

He smiled slightly, "It's only being polite Minako." He didn't see the big deal, wasn't he supposed to do stuff like this? She sure got excited about the littlest things.

He followed her through the door and up to the next deck. "So, Halloween is coming up. Do you have any plans yet?" Might as well keep the small talk going.

"Still...it's very nice of you."

She hopped after him, going to slip her arm into his again. Hmm. He seemed confused. She needed to be more direct...ah! Halloween!

"Oh, I don't know...I was thinking maybe I could watch a movie with someone." She looked at him with a big, winning smile. "Something intimate, with me and that special someone else. You know...a date?"

Terra was hardly at all surprised to hear that Minako had plans, although a date wasn't what he was expecting. Although, she was fairly popular on the ship since everyone liked helping her with her sketches and the like. Perhaps someone had asked her out.

"That's great Minako, I didn't realize you were dating someone on board the ship. I'm sure you two will have a lot of fun. Who's the special someone?"

Oh...oh dear lord, he didn't...he really didn't suspect? Minako's smile wattage went down twenty percent at that, and she started to turn red.

"Um, well!"

Now she felt silly having put on this dress. Should she tell him? Shouldn't she? This was her chance!

"...Yeah...I'm uh, I'm hoping to get his attention about how I feel about him soon..." She looks away, and down, slowly unhooking herself from him. "But...now that you mention it, I don't know how he would feel about someone like me."

Poor Minako, little did she realize just how dense the boy she was trying to get really was. Terra didn't realize something was wrong until she started to pull away, but even then it was mostly a thought of how strange it was that she would suddenly decide to pull away now.

He stopped and looked down at her. She sounded pretty disappointed. "You can't give up if you haven't asked him yet, right? Don't lose faith in yourself, especially because of what someone else may think of you. You have to believe in yourself before others will also do the same." He hoped he was helping, he could only imagine what Pinkie Pie would say if he brought her to the party in a bad mood.

No, he...what he said was true. Why was she so uncertain! Maybe...maybe its just because she's rusty. It has been awhile since her last legitimate boyfriend or crush, after all. And maybe, maybe he wasn't with Aqua, that girl from his world...

At this, she looked down, fiddling with her fingers. Why was she so nervous? She was the spirit of Venus, damnit! She should just ask him!

"W-well...in that case..." At this, she looked at Terra hopefully. "You wouldn't mind going on a date with me...would you?"

"Me? You want to date...me?"

Okay, Terra had not seen that one coming. He probably should have, maybe, but he'd never been one to notice these types of nuances in relationships. He barely KNEW Minako and now she was asking him out...on a DATE. What was he supposed to say? He couldn't turn her down, not just flat out, but it felt wrong. He didn't feel like this was the right moment at all! Wasn't he supposed to be taking her to a party? How had it turned into this mess?

Terra hesitated, which was probably the worst possible thing he could do. No, he couldn't comprehend this. Why in the name of the Light would someone want to date him, let alone Minako? His face flushed and he looked away, trying to think of what he could possibly say to keep this situation from becoming even MORE messed up. "M-maybe, uhm, maybe you can let me think about it? It's just sudden and I didn't realize you felt like that about me. It would just be...best for tonight."

...Well, she felt like a bit of a moron. Maybe she should have been more upfront about that ramen. Maybe she should have given it more time. Ah, why was she always making these stupid mistakes and second-guessing herself and--

But...but he'd think about it! That actually made Minako's smile come back. She gave a quick, understanding nod.

"Ah! No, I understand! Actually, I'm really sorry I put that on you like that. I just...um..." Minako looked sheepish. "I wasn't sure how to put it, actually. But if you need time to think about it, or you don't want to...I'm not gonna force you into something you're not comfortable with. That wouldn't be right."

While Minako's smile returned, Terra visibly relaxed at her response. He was glad he didn't have to have an answer now, because if she had asked for one now he's not sure what he would have said. He sighed, looking down at the floor and away from Minako, "Perhaps...we should at least get to know each other first before you decide that's what you really want though. We don't know each other all that well and that's probably the only way to know if we're comfortable with...dating."

The word was difficult to say and Terra rubbed at the back of his neck, "I've never dated someone before so I'm not even sure what the proper course of action is and probably why I am no good at this sort of thing...but, yes, it's probably better if you give me time to get to know you first, okay?"

Terra took a deep breath and looked up, "Come on Minako...there is something I wanted to show you while we were on the walk."

"All right!"

Well, it only made sense. Though now she was more worried she scared the poor guy. Drove him away. Made him think she was insane or--

"Eh?" Blink. "Really? What is it?"

Terra smiled. If nothing else he could turn the night around with this. "Follow me and I'll show you." He started leading her down the hallway and before long and taken her to the Cafeteria deck. He knocked on the door to give Pinkie the signal and then held it open for Minako to enter her surprise party.

And with that, Minako stepped in, clearly not realizing what was going on.

"...Eh? Where are the lights?"

Pinkie, bouncing in place in the dark at the front of her small crowd of guests, had begun to wonder where exactly her Super-Special Birthday-Girl-Getter had gone off to. He hadn't gotten lost, had he? Gasp - maybe Minako knew about the party and she was hiding! Fluttershy was normally the only one who did that kind of thing though...Luckily, the pony heard Terra give the secret knock before anyone had the chance to get too restless - loud guests could totally ruin even the best planned of surprise parties!

At Minako's question, she flipped on the lights and flung her forelegs up in the air. "SURPRIIIIIIIISE!!!!" she yelled, leading the guests. "HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MINAKO!"

It took Minako a moment to compute what was happening. Surprise? Happy birthday?

...

"oh...my.....GOD!!" Minako immediately lit up. "I-is this...for me!? Oh my god!!"

Pinkie bounced up to her guest of honor. "Uh-huh! It's your birthday and all, so I put this all together JUST FOR YOU! Here's your hat!" She handed over a tiny party hat with a few streamers taped to the top - it was the best she'd been able to do on short notice. "Come on, come on! Let's get this party STARTED!"

Whether she was a party person or not, there was no way she was missing this; she liked Mina too much for that.

As the party officially began she adjusted the red dress she found for the occasion, approached and gave Minako a big hug.

"Happy birthday~" she said, handing her a wrapped package, "I hope you like it; you don't wanna know what I had to go through to even get it."
