SURPRISE!
Characters: Pinkie and EVERYONE EVER
Content: Surprise parties!
Location: Deck 4; the cafeteria
Time of day: Evening
Warnings: None
When Pinkie Pie woke up with floppy eyebrows, a bouncy knee, and a twisty ear, she knew. Her Pinkie-Pie-Ultra-Super-Special-Birthday Sense was NEVER wrong. All throughout the day, wherever they happened to be, anyone who wasn't Minako would suddenly find themselves accosted by a pink party pony on the prowl. "HEY! It'sMinako'sbirthdaytodaysowe'regonnahaveaTOTALLYSUPERSECRETsurprise party! So don't tell ANYBODY and be in the cafeteria tonight before six okay bye!" she whispered all in one breath before darting away again, intent on informing the entire Satellite about the special day.
By the appointed time, the cafeteria was entirely decked out in red-and-white streamers and balloons, with a big sheet cake reading "HAPPY BIRTHDAY MINAKO!" and covered in red frosting-bows. It was hard to see the decorations, though, what with the entire room being shrouded in darkness. New arrivals were quickly pulled through the door by Pinkie. "Get ready!" she whispered. "Terra's supposed to be bringing Minako soon!" Since Terra and Minako seemed to be good friends, she'd put him in charge of making sure the birthday girl got to her party.

He knew he should tell Aqua that he hadn't said he was going to date her and that he was only thinking about his options, however her command was just so surprising to him that he just crossed his arms and glared at her, "Why not? She's not a bad person Aqua and yet you keep treating her like she's done something horrible."

"It's just... you don't really know her," Aqua answered, ignoring the pit of vipers that was the unspoken implications of how she'd managed to overhear that part of the conversation. There was a brief moment of silence and then she continued on, ignoring everything that was trying to tell her that this was both a terrible time to bring things up, as well as absolutely the worst mood for it. But she had made a promise to Rarity. She had to at least try. "And... there's already someone else here who wants to date you."

Wait, did Aqua know who that 'V' person was? Terra bit his lip. He wasn't sure he wanted to know about who else wanted to date him. He had gone most of his life not caring about these things and now, in a single night, it was all crashing around him. He didn't know the first thing to do and if TWO people wanted to date him then how was he supposed to avoid hurting them?
"Who?" He croaked.

She hadn't even been sure how Terra would react, what with everything else going on.

"Since when?" He'd known Aqua most of his life, at least the part of his life that meant something. She meant more to him than anything and his whole ambition to become stronger and get more power was so he could protect her and others he cared about. Not that Aqua really needed protection, but everyone needed someone to have their back. That's what Aqua was to him and now...now shew as changing the whole dynamic of that relationship. He'd never even considered it. Or had he? He could certainly remember times he'd looked at her and found himself thinking how attractive she was or how much he cared for her. He'd thought the caring part was simply because they were friends but, well, it was different from the way he cared about Ven.
What was he supposed to do now? The Master had never taught him how to handle situations like this. Now he just felt like an idiot.

"I think it's been building for a while now," she answered slowly. "There just wasn't ever time to say something." Not that she would have been all that likely to bring it up even if there had been. Maybe if things hadn't started falling apart all at once she would have said something to Terra the first time they'd met up after Radiant Garden. (Maybe she wouldn't have, considering her general shyness about the topic.) But the matter was out of her hands now. It was as much up to Terra to decide what to do as it was up to her.
All she had to do was wait, and not die of either embarrassment or nervousness, which might well be easier said than done.

He could remember very recently protesting to Linkara that they were just friends but...was that really ALL they were. Surely by now there bond was deeper than that but could he label it as something like...like what Aqua was implying? He knew that, in the past, he had looked at her differently, as someone more than just a fellow student. Honestly, if he compared what he felt for her with what he felt for Ven, well, there was no comparison. Ven was like a little brother, a best friend he could fall back on but still someone he felt he needed to keep an eye on. But Aqua...Aqua was different. He could look at her and see her strength and beauty and know that she was someone special.
And he wasn't sure he deserved that. It hit him, as he stood there in stunned silence watching Aqua watching him try to find something to say. He couldn't SAY anything to her and she deserved more than what he could give her...Minako to for that matter. What future did he have anyway?

It was only the fact that she remembered all too well what had happened that one day they'd all met in Radiant Garden that finally let her squash her unreasonable desires back down to where they belonged. She was pretty sure that chasing Terra off was not supposed to be the intent of admitting her feelings for him. Nor was it really even entirely fair to ask him to process things so fast. She knew she wouldn't have been able to, in his shoes. It just... bothered her, to not know. There weren't even any book she could use to make sure she was actually doing the right thing.
"You don't have to answer right now!" she finally commented, when it looked like the silence was going to stretch on intolerably long. "I just thought you should know."

"You don't have to answer right now!" Aqua finally commented, when it looked like the silence was going to stretch on intolerably long. "I just thought you should know."
It seemed that both girls were going to give him time. He looked up, studying Aqua quietly. What was he going to do about this situation? He was such an idiot for being oblivious to it all this time and he just knew that, in the end, he'd wind up hurting one of them. True, Aqua was his oldest friend and the person dearest to him but it didn't seem fair to just write Minako off either. Terra sighed, looking away from Aqua and down at his feet, "Thank you...I...I don't have an answer for you right now. I just...a lot has happened, even before we got here...I just don't know Aqua."
He really was an idiot. He didn't know what to say or feel or even do about this situation. Hew as so lost and he needed help. Unfortunately, he wasn't sure who to go to on the ship and even if his Master had still be around he would have been hesitant to approach him given the nature of the situation. Ven, too, would have been a problem.
Terra realized by this point that the party was probably ruined, at least for him. He cast a glance in Minako's direction. It wasn't fair to her that her party should be ruined because of his issues. Terra looked back to Aqua, not quite meeting her eye, "I should...probably go. I'm sorry Aqua."

She'd simply have to hope that Minako's offer wouldn't win out, in that time.
"Alright," she answered with a nod. "I won't keep you." It was a little odd he was telling her, but maybe that was what passed for normal with this kind of thing?

He just hoped he hadn't completely blown it in the process.
