Quiet Time...Please Disturb [open]
Characters: Kaldur'ahm & Open
Content: Whatever floats your boat. Kaldur's just relaxing/meditating.
Location: Deck 8, Nature Deck
Time of day: Evening
Warnings: None
Kaldur'ahm sat with his feet in the watering hole on the Nature Deck. It was a strange environment to find in space, but at least something that Kaldur felt more comfortable with than the other environments. One thing after another seemed to be happening on board and it was nice to find a Deck in which he could just BREATH and not see metal everywhere. It still wasn't a reminder of home, though. Even with his friends here who knew he could be so nostalgic for the Earth he knew? Kaldur watched as some of the fish swam up and around his ankles, obviously curious about this invader in their watering hole. Kaldur watched them before they swam away, obviously interested in other things.
He flopped onto his back, leaving his feet in the water. Perhaps the real reason he was so homesick was the lack of a body of water. It just wasn't enough to have a swimming pool and a small watering hole...Kaldur was used to the ocean. Here he really was a fish out of water, more so than Happy Harbor where he could at least dive in any time he wanted. He hadn't really shown it, not to Artemis or Wally anyway, but he was worried about what would happen to them. Kaldur watched as his skin started to sparkle more in the fading light of the Nature deck. Well, at least he could take his mind off of that by wondering about this recent sparkle invasion of the skin.
Kaldur studied his bare arm as it glistened, wondering what sort of infection this might be. It certainly wasn't any rash or disease he had heard of but it seemed to have affected most of the occupants of the satellite. Just another strange thing about this place he supposed. Kaldur rubbed at his skin for the billionth time that day to see if he could disperse the sparkles but it did little good...but at least the intensity of it from a few moments ago was fading.
"I wonder if it is perhaps a reaction to something," he muttered, laying his arm back down and staring up at the ceiling/forest canopy.

"It is indeed strange. I had not imagined that I would be in space any time soon...but I suppose it is a good experience to have. I do not know if any of my friends will believe me when I tell them...thankfully I do have some here so they can support my story," Kaldur replied with a half smile. Luckily the one LEAST likely to believe him, Wally, was also on the ship so that at least worked to his advantage. "I hope we can return everyone safely anyway."

She went quiet at his last comment. Having rarely gone outside Castle Oblivion or the mansion, she'd never thought she'd be in a place like this, either. Finally she answered. "I don't know if this is good for me or not. Back home--there were people that needed my help. I hope everyone can go home safely, but I'm worried what will happen if I'm gone too long." She paused. "Though, some of them are here--they're from further ahead in time than me, and they're alright."

He looked out at the pond, "I know what you mean. There are people who need my help as well...but hopefully those I left behind can handle the problems in my place while I am here." M'gann, Robin, and Superboy were certainly capable enough and the majority of the League was still there, not to mention Roy. Surely someone would step up. His real concern was about the mole situation he had left unaddressed. It would be near impossible to conduct an investigation of the matter here, though he could try to eliminate Artemis and Wally as suspects.
"That sounds like it might be complicated." His brows furrowed as he considered the problem being from the future or the past of one of his friends might bring. He sighed, "I cannot say I know much on the subject of timelines or time travel, but it would make sense to me that if they are alright now that things somehow work out...even if you are here now." He shrugged, he at least hoped it would make her feel better about the situation.

She nodded thoughtfully as she took in the rest of his words. She hoped Axel and Riku were managing well without her (though there was a part of her that didn't, because that might mean she was useless). They didn't always get along, though, and she worried about what might happen if she wasn't there to calm them down if Axel accidentally went too far. Not to mention they'd been planning on using her connection with Sora as a way to find and help him...
The fact that the Sora, Riku, and Kairi here were from a future where they'd won was a slight comfort. Somehow, everything had turned out okay. The fact that they remembered her returning to her other made her shudder slightly. She knew she had to return to Kairi; that wasn't what scared her. She was finding, though, that the abstract idea of "something that will happen someday" and knowledge that the event had happened, had become a link in others' chains of memories, were too very different things.
"Maybe. But I think that there are some things that, even if you know they have to happen, you don't want to know when and how they happened," she said quietly.

Kaldur thought about what she had said for a moment. He had not dealt with time travel or skipping or anything like that before. True, he had read books dealing with the subject, mostly speculation, and Robin or Wally could perhaps shed more light on the science of it...however he was not sure how to speak of it in this instance. It was clearly troubling Namine and he wanted to comfort her since it was just in his nature to do so.
"That sounds understandable to me. It is perhaps unwise to know too much about one's own future, simply knowing can cause us to take different courses of action that could in turn change the outcome."
Late response is late--sorry. ^^;;;
Even if Kaldur tried to explain, Namine might have a hard time following. Though she'd had a rudimentary education--some reading and math--and she was capable of learning, it would take time for her to build the knowledge base that others had. Sora's memories could only tell her so much, since she'd tried to not look more closely than needed. The effort to comfort, though, was appreciated and she latched on to the chance to change the subject.
"Didn't people once believe in fortunetellers? I think there were some stories made up about what happened when someone tried to keep a...prophecy? from happening." She frowned in thought as she tried to remember details from the book of stories that Zexion had brought one day and they'd both 'forgotten' she needed to return.
no problem
"Still, I like to think that, in the end, things will work out for the best. It just might take longer or be more difficult than we originally thought it would."
