Reminders of home
Characters: Aqua and Rarity
Content: A chance meeting and the aftermath thereof
Location: the Theatrical Deck
Time of day: Afternoon
Warnings: None
It had taken a good deal longer than Aqua had wanted to, especially given some of the other things that had been happening on the ship of late, but after a fair amount of concentrated searching she'd found what she'd been looking for. Her armor, all correct and accounted for. Of course she was fairly certain that it wasn't going to simply be a matter of calling it up when she wanted, after this, but that didn't stop her from putting it on all the same. It was just a little strange to not have it forming around her of its own volition, that was all.
After a moment of time to make sure that everything was settled properly - and after deciding that the helmet was going to be largely impractical - she turned back to the pile. If her armor was there then surely Terra's would also be there?

She paused when she saw someone else looking through things down on this deck. My, but their ensemble certainly was shiny. "Oh- hello!" she called, approaching them. "I didn't see you when I was down here earlier. Are you-"
She'd gotten close enough to catch sight of their face, and she suddenly realized she recognized this person. "Oh! Aqua! I didn't recognize you from behind! That is quite a dashing ensemble," she complimented, coming closer and trotting in a circle around her friend, inspecting the armor from all angles. "Is it new? Because it certainly does suit you. You look like a knight in shining armor, though I'm certain a princess' dress would look just as charming. Let me see, now..." She perused the racks, quickly finding a deep burgundy dress that would be suitable with a few minor (bordering on major) alterations and pulled it out for Aqua to see. "How about this? I would spruce it up a bit for you, of course, but it's a nice start, at least."
It was about then that the rest of her manners caught up with her runaway fashion sense, and she reined it in a bit. Aqua had been looking through things, hadn't she? "Ah- pardon me," she excused herself. "Were you looking for something?"
no subject
"It's not really new," she answered, as soon as Rarity's barrage of questions ceased enough to get a word in edgewise. "It's something we had back home." Technically, it ought to have been something they still had, save for the odd blank spot where it seemed magic ought to have been. She'd really have to look more into that in the future. But it could wait.
"And... I thought maybe I could find Terra's, while I was here," she continued after a moment of silence.

If Terra and Aqua were from the same place, it did make sense for them to have the same style of clothing, or the same armor, as the case may have been here. "I see. Well, I can certainly help you find it while I'm here." Rarity resumed looking through the racks and piles of clothing, now on a completely different mission. "Tell me, does it look like yours?"
Oh. Oh. "Speaking of Terra," Rarity looked over her shoulder with a knowing smile, "I don't think I ever asked. How did things go between you and him?"
no subject
Or rather, it would have taken some looking if Rarity's question hadn't suddenly derailed most of her train of thought. Not too surprisingly, it took her a moment to find her voice again, but the smile that crossed her face at the question was surely just as good as an answer. Things had gone just fine.

Still, there was the question of actually talking about what had happened, something that was rather easier to imagine than actually do in Aqua's case. "I'm not sure there's really much to tell," she answered, with a shrug. "He just said he was interested in going out with me. Ah, and we were going to go to dinner together at some point."
The fact that it was mostly to get their relationship figured out was something she didn't need to mention.

Still, she did quiet down and let Aqua speak, and she was rather glad she had. "Dinner?" she gasped excitedly. "Oh, you're going on a date! That's wonderful! Ooh!" She bounced up and down, enthused at the very prospect. "I'll make you something to wear! You do need something special for an occasion like this, you know." With that, she was back to digging in the piles and racks of clothing, piling several more dresses on the burgundy one she'd already suggested Aqua wear. "Tell me, has he seen you in your little black dress? Because you will need something new if he has. You simply can't attend two very special occasions wearing the same gown, especially not two occasions so close together." She turned back to her pile, now containing at least half a dozen dresses and numerous other odds and ends. "There. I think that's a good start, don't you?"
Her digging had unearthed the corner of something bronze and gold; in her enthusiasm, she'd hardly noticed.

"He has," she answered with a nod. "I was wearing it when he came to tell me he wanted to go out with me." Really, she couldn't have planned it any better if she'd known he'd been intended to come talk to her. Left to her own devices, she might've worn the same dress again, mostly on account of the fact that it wasthe nicest thing she owned. Since Rarity seemed to have things quite well in hoof, Aqua simply nodded at the question. It looked like a quite a good start to her.
It was only by coincidence that her nod caused her eye to lend on the small glimpse of gold and bronze peeking out the pile and with a slight gasp she bent to dig it out.

That reaction wasn't something to be missed. Rarity looked in the direction Aqua had gone - oh, that bit of bronze most likely had something to do with it. She helped Aqua dig, quickly uncovering a helmet and a gauntlet. Well, it wasn't anything to her taste - more something Rainbow Dash would appreciate, really - but Aqua did seem excited about it. "This is Terra's armor, then?"
no subject
"It is," she answered. "I knew it had to be here somewhere." Admittedly, thus far they only had a few of the pieces, but where there were a few, there were bound to be more. The only problem was the sheer number of things in the pile, but she was willing to spend as much time as she needed to to dig things up.

"Well. The color should make it easier to spot in the piles of clothes, I think." She'd seen plenty of gold accents on the various gowns in here, but gold thread had a very different hue than gold armor and none of its shine. "Shall we get back to it, then?" Without waiting for an answer, she dug back into the pile, keeping an eye out for any more bits of armor.

Within a matter of minutes, she'd managed to pull the matching gauntlet and one of the greaves out of the pile. It was progress if not the fastest, but then again, she hadn't really been expecting fast in the first place.
