That is the price to play its game

Characters: Iron Liz and Kaldur'ahm
Content: Liz and Kaldur talk about disappearing things. Or something like that.
Location: Nature deck
Time of day: late afternoon, I reckon?
Warnings: Potentially Atop the Fourth Wall spoilers. Probably from earlier in the last arc, but still.

Liz felt a little bad. She didn't want to seem like she was overshadowing Kaldur's troubles as his friends had vanished from the Satellite, and hers was a pretty long, complicated story. But he had offered, and he didn't seem to mind as she went on, so she kept going.

To be honest, this was something she hadn't thought about for a while. The Satellite of Love provided a lot of distractions to get her mind off of what was happening in her home universe. It was so long since she thought about it that she almost wasn't even sure where to start.

So she just started from the top. And as she went on it all started to come back to her. Some worry for wherever Mr. Finevoice and the Ninja-Style Dancer may have gone, and a lot of frustration at Linkara's complete denial that the Entity Lord Vyce warned them about may actually be a threat. True, she hadn't seen the thing herself and she wasn't around for anything she heard about the Ninja or Harvey, but she couldn't deny she'd spent more than a few nights at home walking the apartment with swords at the ready because she thought someone was watching her. How Linkara hadn't noticed anything (or at least admitted to it) was beyond her.

She'd gone through a good portion of her thermos of tea by the time she finished, and just gave Kaldur a bit of a sheepish grin in the silence, rolling the legs of her jeans up to soak her feet in the pond.

Kaldur did not mind at all listening to someone else's worries. In fact, he had always considered himself more of a listener than a talker anyway. It was not often that he professed his own problems or worries and, instead, tended to keep such matters to himself. However, when it came to his team he could not help but to express concern over their disappearance since he was unsure what it meant. Were they in trouble elsewhere or simply back at Happy Harbor wondering why he was not with them? There was simply no way of knowing and that is what troubled him most. Even the supposed mad scientists keeping them on the satellite had no idea what had caused the disappearance.

He had hoped that by talking to Liz he could sort out his own concerns to some degree, even if the natures of the disappearances were different. However, instead he found himself troubled by what Liz was telling him. He sipped the tea Liz had brought quietly. "I suppose we really are in much the same boat then since neither of us have a way of knowing if those we have lost are indeed okay," he sighed, "I do not think there is anything I can say to ease your fears. I have not heard of an Entity or an encounter such as the one you described from any of the Justice League."

He was fairly certain it would have been mentioned in a file and he had been studying some of the case files during his free time in hopes it could aid him in his position as leader. However, nothing came to mind and so he was fairly certain their universe, at least, had not encountered either an Entity or a Lord Vyce.

Kaldur nodded. It sounded like Linkara was being a bit overly skepitcal about something he should at least consider. It reminded him, in a way, of Wally's actions during their mission to see out Kent Nelson. Kaldur chose his words carefully, he knew he could only say so much about the missions that were supposed to be secretive and covert, but he felt he could also be a little lax given that this was an alternate dimension.

"I have seen the same thing occur with one of my own teammates. He continues to deny the existence of magic and related phenomena despite evidence to the contrary. He would rather explain it with science and technology. This led to some dangerous situations since he took for granted the power of magic, but I believe now he is slowly coming around to the idea." Kaldur paused, taking another sip of tea before continuing, "I know the danger is growing for you in your universe, but it sounds as though you can only continue to try to convince Linkara or simply give him time to see the evidence himself."
