Mission 2
Character(s): Xion and all who care to join her
Content: Sea Salt Ice Cream and whale observation
Setting: Cafeteria
Time of Day: Afternoon
Warnings: Shy character~ Feel free to say "hi," though.
There'd been so much going on lately that Xion had barely had time to think. First there had been participating in the experiment. Then all the strange things happening--it had been like living in Halloweentown. She couldn't be scared, but some of them had surprised her. Turning invisible had been what made her decide to just stay in her room until it was over.
Taking a sea-salt ice cream bar from the food synthesizer, she briefly wondered what Axel and Roxas would have thought of the whole thing. She tried not to think of them too often, because they weren't here. Sometimes she couldn't help herself, though.
Sitting on one of the tables, watching the whales float by, she closed her eyes and tried to imagine herself back on the clock tower with her two best friends.
She wondered if this was what missing someone was like.

He hadn't quite expected anyone to be there at the time.
"Ah, hello. Sorry for barging in."
no subject
She was so lost in thought that she started the sound of someone else's voice. "H-hello."
She shifts to get a better look at the boy who just came in.

MakubeX gave the stranger a smile. "Not a bad view here, is it?"
no subject
She smiled back. "I like it."

Her regression to a pre-Roxas level of conversation skill made her wince internally. Then again, how much could she talk to a stranger about?
no subject
"Oh, I didn't know the synthesizer was capable of that. What flavor is it?"

[ooc: sorry for such short tags--it takes a bit for Xion to warm up to people. ^^;;;]
no subject
"Oh! That's... different." He'd never had anything quite like it before. It was unusual. He looked it over again, then took another taste. "It's good, though."
no subject
"It's my favorite." She paused to catch a few drips before continuing. "Though I haven't tried any other kinds. Axel always said it was sweet and salty."
no subject
"You know, we'll have to remedy the fact that you haven't tried any others. Fortunately, we've got nothing but time here." He paused again and shrugged. "Or unfortunately, depending on how you look at it."
no subject
She kicked her legs in the air and nodded. "We do. So maybe we should learn each others' names. I'm Xion."
no subject
"Ah, forgive me. I'm terrible at that. Call me MakubeX." He nodded in return and offered his hand.
no subject
She paused for a moment before remembering she was supposed to shake his hand and doing so. "Nice to meet you."
no subject
MakubeX nodded. "Likewise."
no subject
There was a brief silence as she tried to think of what to say next. "How long have you been here?"
no subject
"A couple of weeks, I think. It's difficult to keep track of time here. What about you?"
no subject
"About the same about of time, I think. Are...Are any of your friends here?" She looked down at her hands, realizing she'd asked something that was probably personal.
no subject
At the question, MakubeX's face fell slightly. He kept a tiny smile, though, and shook his head. "No, I haven't seen anyone I know yet."

Xion smiles back. "Mine aren't here either." She reaches up to her hood...
no subject
They'd had ice cream together, after all. Wasn't that one of the requirements?
no subject
MakubeX's smile returned when she lowered the hood. He nodded, offering his hand again. "I would like that very much."
no subject
She took the offered hand and shook it, smiling back. "Then it's settled."
Suddenly she had to fight the urge to laugh. Partly because really, this was more formal than when she and Roxas, or she and Axel had declared themselves friends--she could almost hear Axel's commentary on how "official" they're being. And partly because...
Partly because memories of those times came flooding back so strongly that it was either laugh, or let the stinging at her eyes take over.

However, he could tell that something was off. He couldn't quite place it though, since he hadn't known her for that long. He tilted his head to the side and asked, "What's wrong?"
no subject
She gave a shaky laugh. "It's nothing. Just. Memories."
Not that she was sure why they'd come up when she was trying to focus on the present.

The strange thing was that she didn't even have a heart to miss them with. She'd save that fact for later, though.

"That would be nice. Feel free to let me know whenever you'd like to do that." He then told her which room he was staying at, just in case they didn't feel like announcing anything over the network.
no subject
The smile changed to something more genuine when he agreed to meet again. "Only if you'll let me know whenever you'd like to meet again." She gave him her room number, too.
no subject
"I certainly will."
no subject
"See you later, then?" She stepped down from the table, straightening her coat and preparing to put her hood up for the walk back to her room.
