SURPRISE!
Characters: Pinkie and EVERYONE EVER
Content: Surprise parties!
Location: Deck 4; the cafeteria
Time of day: Evening
Warnings: None
When Pinkie Pie woke up with floppy eyebrows, a bouncy knee, and a twisty ear, she knew. Her Pinkie-Pie-Ultra-Super-Special-Birthday Sense was NEVER wrong. All throughout the day, wherever they happened to be, anyone who wasn't Minako would suddenly find themselves accosted by a pink party pony on the prowl. "HEY! It'sMinako'sbirthdaytodaysowe'regonnahaveaTOTALLYSUPERSECRETsurprise party! So don't tell ANYBODY and be in the cafeteria tonight before six okay bye!" she whispered all in one breath before darting away again, intent on informing the entire Satellite about the special day.
By the appointed time, the cafeteria was entirely decked out in red-and-white streamers and balloons, with a big sheet cake reading "HAPPY BIRTHDAY MINAKO!" and covered in red frosting-bows. It was hard to see the decorations, though, what with the entire room being shrouded in darkness. New arrivals were quickly pulled through the door by Pinkie. "Get ready!" she whispered. "Terra's supposed to be bringing Minako soon!" Since Terra and Minako seemed to be good friends, she'd put him in charge of making sure the birthday girl got to her party.

What she found instead were two...well, they certainly weren't ponies, although one of them was wearing a rather cute dress...walking together as though it were some sort of special occasion. Her desire for answers warred with her unwillingness to interrupt what might well be a romantic outing, and she hesitated, watching them go.
Lucky for her, there was another...nonpony...watching them walk. Rarity could talk to this one, yes? Although it was a bit rude to simply go fishing for information upon first arrival. Luckily, they did have a common topic of conversation. "They are a lovely couple, aren't they?" she asked, gesturing to the retreating couple.

Unfortunately for Rarity, she finished speaking exactly in time for Aqua to hear - with perfect clarity - Minako asking Terra if he wouldn't mind going on a date with her. Quite naturally, her mood (already none to pleasant) worsened further at that. How dare she ask him something like that?
"No," she answered at last, voice a good deal more snappish than it might have been under normal circumstances. "They aren't."

Her desire for answers as to how exactly she'd wound up in this rather stark place momentarily forgotten, it took her a moment to really consider what that tone of voice might mean. Just about everypony she knew would be happy to see a good romance, so either this nonpony didn't like romance or...oh, that was an option, even if it could be troublesome in these sorts of situations. "Don't tell me," she gasped, "that you're jealous of them."
no subject
"Why wouldn't I be?" she answered, after a moment of silence to decide whether or not she actually was jealous.

She paused again, giving her words a few moments to sink in and looking up at the nonpony. "The real question is, why would you be?"
no subject
Still, while Rarity did have a point, actually answering her question was easier said then done. Even if it was the truth, Aqua wasn't about to simply come out and say that she had feeling for him as well. Not to a stranger, even if the stranger was not only a pony but also trying her best to be helpful. "I know I probably shouldn't be," she answered after a moment of silence. "It's just... Terra doesn't really know what to do with people fawning all over him and it's not fair. To either of us."
no subject
That moment of silence was every bit as telling as her answer. After all, why be jealous of someone in a relationship unless you had feelings of your own? "And why is a little attention not fair to either of you?" she questioned. "Is it because you haven't had a chance to tell him about your feelings for him yet?" It was quite an assumption, yes, and there was a very good chance that Rarity would wind up putting her hoof in her mouth. On the other hoof, the best way to get answers in tricky situations was to simply push people into them, and she'd certainly had experience in that department.

"I don't think that's any of your concern," Aqua answered back, almost without thinking. Yes, she had feeling for Terra, and no, she hadn't been able to bring them up. Before either of them had arrived here there had been far too much to do to bring it up and nor that they were here, well. The situation spoke for itself, pretty much.

"Personally, I think you should tell him how you feel," she continued, eyes glittering with excitement. "You did say they're not an established couple, so now's your chance! And you do know him - at least, I assume you do," and given the way this nonpony had been acting, Rarity was fairly certain she was safe in that assumption, "so you already know what he likes and how to talk to him. All you have to do now is tell him how you really feel about him." She nudged Aqua's hips with her own. "And I have every confidence that he'll feel the same way about you." Truthfully, she didn't have the slightest idea how this Terra would feel, but this was terribly romantic and there was nothing wrong with a little encouragement, right?
no subject
"Of course I know him!" she answered. She had, after all, lived under the same roof as he had for the majority of her life, even if most of it had been training. But he'd been her first friend and surely that had to count for something. Still, it was easier said than done, and while Aqua nodded at most of Rarity's comments she couldn't help but bring up what was quite possibly the crux of the problem all the same, once Rarity was finished speaking. "What if he doesn't?"
no subject
She paused, switching gears. "But why are we talking about that right now? You haven't even told him yet!" She nudged her again, with a bit more oomph this time. "Next time he's alone. You will tell him, yes?" Her tone, eager and emphatic as it was, didn't really leave room for a 'no.'

"I'll talk to him."
