Under the Sea [open ineedthecrforkaldur log]
Characters: Kaldur and YOU, yes, YOU!
Content: For no real reason Kaldur decides to spend another evening watching The Little Mermaid. Come join him/mock him/etc.
Time: Evening
Warnings: None?
Note: Writing in third person, but this can be action tags if you want. Also, multiple threads. Feel free to make-up which part of the movie your character comes in on.
Ven had reminded him of it, but honestly Kaldur would probably have picked up the movie and watched it sooner rather than later anyway. He did not say it, but the movie reminded him of home in a number of ways. It took place under the oceans, sure, but it was also one of the first movies he had seen with Robin and Wally as friends. They had done it to him mainly as a joke, but he had secretly enjoyed the songs and the animation was nice too. Sure, it was completely inaccurate to his own culture, but he could relate to Ariel's desire to see the surface world and her longing to be with someone who understood her.
He had won the movie several months back, but he had watched it several times since then, especially once Artemis and Wally had disappeared and he had needed a reminder of his friends. Talking to Ven had brought that back up, but also his dealings with the Shade had left him more than a little bit down. This was a chance to unwind and relax after all of that.
So after procuring a snack (chips and dip), Kaldur sat down with The Little Mermaid, not knowing if anyone was going to join him or not.

"Sure!" Sora stepped inside, sitting down on the couch next to Kaldur. He was really curious now to see how this movie differed from what actually happened. "And you don't have to rewind if you don't wanna. I just want to see how accurate the story is in this movie." He grabbed up a handful of chips when offered.

He nodded, "You said you had met Ariel, if I recall. You will have to tell me how accurate the portrayal is." It was strange to talk about it that way, but after being on the satellite for this length of time, he was starting to get used to such strangeness.

He had met Ariel, which was kind of exciting now with her movie here. "I will!" Sora said with a nod. He didn't see the beginning, so he couldn't say anything on that front, but at least the rest he could look at.
They got to the part where King Triton destroyed Ariel's grotto, and Sora frowned. He did remember how all this went down. "Yeah, that's pretty accurate to what happened..."

The movie continued on, although Sora was a little sad that there was never so much as a mention of he and his friends. Maybe whoever made the movie was more concerned about keeping world order. They now got to the part where Ariel gave up her voice to Ursula to gain human legs...something Sora and his friends had tried to prevent, but failed. "Yeah, all this happened, too..."

He hesitated, he was getting close to talking about Tula and what had happened and he was not certain he was ready for that. He decided to shift the topic, "Fortunately, I did not have to make such a bargain to do so."
no subject
"I guess if you can breathe fine in both water and on land then it's not much of a problem! I don't think anyone in Atlantica could do that normally." Or, even if they could, there was still the problem of no legs.

"While I was gone," he began but then shook his head, "it is not something I can change now, so perhaps it is best left in the past. We are still friends, so that is what matters most and I hold no grudge against either of them." He was speaking more to himself now, knowing very well that Sora would have no idea what he was talking about.

Sora was momentarily distracted from the movie when Kaldur went off on a slight tangent...talking about friends he'd left behind. It sounded like maybe they had had a fight, but that Kaldur still missed them. That was certainly something he could understand. "Who're you talking about?"

Kaldur may have gotten a bit of a break on that, though, since it got to the point of the movie where Ariel went up on land and investigated Prince Eric's kingdom. Sora focused on that for a bit. "I didn't get to see any of this happen...we couldn't go up on land at the time."
no subject
"That is right, you said when you went to Atlantica you were turned into a merperson," he looked over at Sora. It was strange to think he could do that, or really acually meet Ariel, but Kaldur was used to such strangeness by this point.

He nodded. "Yeah, me and Donald and Goofy all got different forms. It was fun, but had to learn how to swim twice since I forgot over the year I was gone."
no subject
"I suppose swimming with a tail is a little different than swimming with legs," Kaldur replied.

It got to the part in the movie where Ursula disguised herself and tried to steal Eric away from Ariel...and it was there that it became obvious that she hypnotized Eric. "Ha, that hag knew that Eric would never be interested in her normally!"

It amused him how involved Sora seemed to get on the film.

They then got to the part where the animals interrupted Ursula's fake wedding, while Ariel was trying to reach the ship in time. Sora continued to comment on what was different. "We didn't see any wedding come up! They must've added that part to give it more action or something."

Speaking of, they were coming up on the part where Eric came in to battle Ursula and save Ariel. This part, Sora did remember...when Ursula used the trident to make herself huge and create stormclouds. He raised an eyebrow as the scene progressed, however. "Huh, I thought there'd be a song here..."

Finally, they hit the climax of the battle, with Eric spearing Ursula and killing her. Sora couldn't help but cheer a little.

With that, it was just a matter of the movie wrapping up, since Ariel was choosing to stay on land and live with Eric. "Wow, she didn't stay that long in the ocean...when I was there, Eric offered to swim with her, too."
