Crow was pretty excited here...he finally got to fly around the SOL on his own, like a real crow! And now that he and everyone else had turned into weird battle monsters, or 'Pokemon' as Harvey had said, there was sure to be a whole bunch of fun fights that he could watch! ...And perhaps, participate in, if he was feeling up to it. He could definitely kick Servo’s butt in these kinds of battles, anyway.

So, he had staked himself out in the rafters near the top of the recreation deck, holding a small prop microphone in his claws. If there was one thing he excelled at, it was hilarious commentary!

“Allllllrighty, let’s see who’s gonna come out on top on this week’s colorful battle monster tournament of PAIN!”

"I am. I often sparred before coming here. It will be interesting to test my abilities and limits in this new form." After all, he wouldn't have offered otherwise.

"Should we set ground rules first?"

"Probably," Squall answered with a nod. It wasn't something that he personally had ever to settle, when most of the people he knew worked be the rules already set out by the Garden, but when they didn't know what the full capabilities of these forms they might as well have at least something of a structure.

"There anything you want to suggest?"

"Where I am from, we try not to completely knock out an opponent but when they are down for a suitable duration of time it is considered a win on the other person's part. Since we do not know the limits yet of these forms it would be wise to exercise some caution in our match." Harvey had said something about type advantages and Kaldur was not yet familiar with all the versions and combinations that meant.

Squall nodded at the explanation. It wasn't too different from how matters were supposed to going in training battles, and without either of them being determined to go against the rules it shouldn't have quite the disastrous end results that tended to come hand in hand with his spars with Seifer.

"How long should we consider down?"

He pondered that for a moment, "I believe a ten-count is traditional." He knew they could lower the count if need be, but ten seemed like a good number to aim for, especially not knowing their own limits.

There was a moment of silent consideration, before Squall finally nodded. A count of ten seemed good enough by him, and if it was traditional then surely it was more than a little well-tested.

"Ten works."

With a nod, Kaldur moved back a few steps. "Are we set to begin then?" They didn't have a referee or anything so it was more a matter of making sure both parties were ready and then just doing their best.

Once Leon confirmed that they were Kaldur started with a Razor Shell attack.

Squall nodded at the question, as he settled into the closest thing to a more defensive stance he could manage. He wasn't at all sure what he'd be asked to deal with as far as attacks went, but that didn't mean he couldn't be ready all the same. Even with that, he hadn't been expecting to find shells being used as weapons, and for all that he did his best to dodge he couldn't quite get out of the way entirely. There hadn't ever been anyone in the Garden who'd dealt with thrown weapons, unless you wanted to count Fuujin and Squall had never had to deal with her all that much.

Still, for all that the shells had been surprising uncomfortable, he wasn't about to return the favor, as dodged in close enough for an Iron Tail.

The shells were surprisingly strong but, as Kaldur soon learned, so was Squall's tail. The attack was pretty effective though thankfully Kaldur possessed enough maneuverability to prevent himself from being gutted.

He bounced back quickly, however, and retaliated with a blast of water.

Even though Squall was perfectly familiar with a decent assortment of water-based magic, he wasn't expecting a jet of water to be particularly threatening. Not in comparison to the shells anyway, and it takes him by surprise when it actually does hurt.

It's not enough to stop him from returning the favor however, and he leaps at Kaldur again, lightning crackling around his teeth.

Being used to immunity from most electrical shocks, Kaldur was more than taken aback by the sudden jolt he received from Squall's bite. It was then that he realized this particular form must have some weakness to that element. Kaldur jerked and while he didn't mean to, a cry of pain escaped him. The electricity was more painful than the bite itself and seemed to linger, making it difficult for Kaldur to move.

There was a brief moment of silence from Squall at the cry of pain. He hadn't been expecting that much of a reaction to the attack, although he supposed it could have been one of the type weaknesses that had been mentioned earlier. Normally he wouldn't have had a problem continuing to use something that was so obviously effective, but given that the fight was supposed to be a friendly spar it seemed... almost overly cruel.

This time when he leapt at Kaldur it wasn't lightning his teeth crackled with, but ice. Hopefully that would at least hurt less than the lightning had.

Kaldur struggled to block or dodge but apparently the electrical attack had paralyzed him to an extent. This time the bite was freezing cold and Kaldur realized it wasn't quite as painful as the last bite. Finally, he managed to shake off the paralysis long enough to blast at Squall again with a powerful jet of water.
