Random Encounters Everywhere

Content: Characters hit various random encounters around the Satellite - Part 1
Location: Any deck
Time of Day: Throughout the day
Warnings: Fighting and violence against monsters

[This is an open party-style log! A random encounter begins when the area around your characters suddenly flashes with white light, and they find themselves transported to a flat, mostly-blank dimension. The monsters will be NPC'd reacting to your characters attacking them.]


The Satellite had certainly turned strange this week. Now, any characters wearing their now outfits were liable to suddenly find themselves in strange pocket dimensions...ones full with the most random of encounters!

Team Aminal (Big Macintosh, Amaterasu, possibly Perry and Pinkie?)

Big Macintosh was uncertain what precisely he was supposed to do. The armor was heavy and hard to move in, and it itched like crazy. And what was he supposed to do with this sword? Swing it around in his teeth?

He had a bad feeling about what it all this was about, too. He didn't want to fight something again, especially with the wound on his flank just a little ways away from being completely healed.

He peered out of his room anxiously, slowly taking a step forward. Maybe he could find somepony to explain what's going on to him.

Amaterasu was also still getting used to this armor...she was never used to wearing something this heavy; it seemed almost detrimental to fighting. At least it was nicely made, though. Her sword was currently sheathed over her back, although she wasn't sure how she'd use it without her normal powers. True, she used glaives often enough, but like her reflectors and rosaries, those didn't usually depend on something like holding it in her teeth.

While wandering the halls for someone who could explain it all, she came across Big Mac. He looked like he was a little confused about the armor, too. She offered him an encouraging smile...whatever it was, she felt he could handle it.

Perry the Paladin actually had a pretty decent ring to it. He wasn't quite used to wearing armor, but he wasn't about to go anywhere without his OWCA hat (and apparently the clothing change had turned it white and silver to match his armor, so there was that at least). The sword he carried was appropriately small and he carried it on his back.

He had the gist of what was going on if only from watching the boys play some RPG games. Granted, he didn't understand why he had armor but he was just going to go with it.

He noticed Ammy right away and saw she had similar armor. Perry gave her a wave and nodded to Big Mac. Form a party guys?

"Wow! You guys are all super-shiny and swordy!" Pinkie pranced up to the group happily, stopping to turn around so that they could see all the instruments attached to the giant contraption on her back. "Hey, Big Mac, check it out! I got my super-duper one-Pinkie musical EXTRAVAGANZOR back! I haven't used THIS baby since those Parasprites!" She'd just come up with that name right now - maybe she'd been hanging out with 90s Kid a little too much - but she liked it!

"Are you guys gonna go fight some monsters or something? Ooooh, can I come? I'll play you a neat marching song, ALL big strong knights need a marching song!" She blew a jaunty little tune on her trumpet to demonstrate.

The party has suddenly hit a random encounter, and gets warped into a pocket dimension!

The party is met with three monsters: 1 goblin, 1 bandersnatch, and 1 bat.

Characters have the first move!

Big Macintosh looked between the three others around him, simply nodding greetings. He opened his mouth to perhaps remark on forming a party, when suddenly he flailed his hooves in the air as the world spun around them and they appeared in the pocket dimension with three strange monsters.

For the moment, the stallion could only stand staring in surprise, unsure what to do.

Okay, this was pretty disorienting. One minute they were on the Satellite like normal, the next they appeared to be in some other dimension...although it was not all that unlike the strange mist that covered an area when she fought demons in Nippon.

But this kind of fighting wasn't at all normal. Ammy couldn't move at first, despite all of her straining. Finally, however, her limbs responded and she rushed at the creature that resembled a wolf. Luckily, her sword seemed to work much the same way as her glaives...it rushed forward without her having to grab it, and slashed at the bandersnatch. As soon as the movement finished, she snapped back into a ready pose.

Perry was a little disoriented as well. What just happened? Oh, wait, was this one of those random encounters? Perry gazed across at the monster and realized that he couldn't move.

Yep, had to be a random encounter. Which meant this was also some kind of turn-based fighting style as well.

Ammy moved and now it was Perry's turn to attack. He twirled the sword and lunged forward, surprisingly agile for a platypus, and swung at the bat.

"Woaaaaah..." Pinkie looked a little more awed than thrown off-balance by the scene transition.

"Hi, monsters! I'd wave at you, but I totally can't move my hooves! Isn't this WEIRD?" She didn't expect much of an answer from her teammates; she knew none of them were exactly the talkative sort. "Wow, Ammy! I didn't know you could move things with your mind! Go, Perry, go!"

Finally, it was her turn. Pinkie wasn't too interested in battling, but she had promised her party an awesome marching song! She started playing, bouncing around in a little circle. Hopefully this would make them feel TWICE as strong!

The bat is defeated, and disappears with a screech!

The bandersnatch attacks Big Mac, taking out about a fifth of his health!

The goblin attacks Pinkie Pie, taking out about a fourth of her health!

Big Macintosh winced as the bandersnatch - what in the hay was that anyway? - came at him, leaving a long scratch along his hide. Dang it, just as he was starting to heal, too!

Well, now he wasn't going to stand for more of this. Feeling renewed strength in Pinkie Pie's song, he immediately charged back at the beast with a headbutt, not thinking for a moment to draw his sword.
