Random Encounters Everywhere

Characters: Anyone and everyone that wants to go questing!
Content: Characters hit various random encounters around the Satellite - Part 1
Location: Any deck
Time of Day: Throughout the day
Warnings: Fighting and violence against monsters

[This is an open party-style log! A random encounter begins when the area around your characters suddenly flashes with white light, and they find themselves transported to a flat, mostly-blank dimension. The monsters will be NPC'd reacting to your characters attacking them.]

The Satellite had certainly turned strange this week. Now, any characters wearing their now outfits were liable to suddenly find themselves in strange pocket dimensions...ones full with the most random of encounters!

Sora, Minako and Hope

[personal profile] optimistickey 2012-08-26 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
Sora was still a bit confused about the purpose of this sudden armor and sword...it wasn't like anyone had spotted any dragons or the like on the Satellite yet. Still, it wasn't like he could wear his usual clothes right now, or like he didn't know how to handle a weapon. So, he may as well use the armor for now. Although he was used to having a lot more freedom with his clothes.

Sora began to wander down to the recreation deck, ready for anything that might spring out his way.

The Satellite had saddled Hope with white and red robes (with cat ears sewn into the hood) and a rod adorned with a Moogle. He wasn't sure what to make of them, other than to be rather put out by the adorableness of them.

And, well, something does spring Sora's way. And Hope's.

"HEY GUYS!!"

Suddenly Minako pops out of the ceiling, wearing the white armor of a paladin, though her belt is a loose jewel chain for some reason. And, of course, a freaking giant sword that looks like it weighs too much for her to hold is strapped to her back.

"We're all dressed up like cosplayers!" At this, Minako clapped her hands. "So that must mean...we're live-roleplaying!! Eeeeee, so fun! I wonder what our quest will be~!"

"And that means?"

Riku was standing on top of the high dive, looking down. His armor was dark in color, a distinctive navy and dark red that was very reminiscent of Soul Eater and Way to the Dawn. That being said, along every red fin was a shorter fringe of white or cream colored feathers. In his hand was what looks almost like a double-ended halberd. The handle was black where it isn't wrapped by woven pieces of red cloth. At one end was a half-folded navy and black bat-like wing, curled into a wicked-looking form. The other side was an angelic wing of light-colored feather, smooth-looking and just as sharp. He leapt into the air and landed dramatically on one knee. Jeez, did he really need such a flashy entrance?

"I don't know about Hope or Sora, but it's not like I know what a cosplayer is."

Sora couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at Hope's getup. It was...probably far cuter than it should have been.

He ended up jumping twice...once when Minako surprised them both (WOW that was a huge weapon), and then again when Riku jumped down to join them. "Wooah!"

"And yeah...what's a cosplayer? This looks more like knight armor to me," he added. At least on his end, it was pretty basic, red-colored armor. "So this is for some kind of quest?"

As if right on cue, the whole area around them suddenly flashed white. When the light melted away, the recreation deck had been replaced with what looked like a flat, mostly-empty arena...very few places to run to here.

Sora looked around in surprise. "...What's this?!" Was Minako right, and this was part of a quest?

The party has encountered three monsters: 1 bandersnatch, 1 hedgehog pie and 1 goblin.

Characters have the first move!

Hope, who was running almost entirely on instinct once the monsters appeared, raised his hand in the air to cast a spell on Sora. Much to his surprise it actually worked, and a shield made of blue light momentarily appeared over Sora.

Normally he would have continued casting Protect on Minako and Riku, but for some unexplained reason, Hope couldn't do anything anymore and was pretty much rooted to the spot he was standing in.

"I think you guys need to try to kill those things."
verygassy: (Let's do this!)

"No problem!" At this, Minako excitedly makes a pose. "In the name of Vvvvvvvfffffffff us...on the...Satellite of Love!"

Almost got too carried away there.

With that she unsheathed her sword and leaped towards the bandersnatch, swinging with her sword. The impact with the monster created a gold heart for some reason, which floated about for several seconds before dissipating.

"All right!" Minako leaped back, about to strike again, before realizing she was now stuck where she was. "...Oh. Uh. Ok! Right, just like in a game, right! I can only take action once a turn. Damn."

Maes, Kotetsu, and Xion

[personal profile] dadandgone 2012-08-27 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
Maes was curious about his new get-up. Nothing else really seemed to have changed aside from his appearance and new found ability to play the banjo. He was currently strolling around, plucking away a tune, and looking for someone to mess with.

After all, things were pretty dull for now.
eyeofwildtiger: (Mask)

[personal profile] eyeofwildtiger 2012-08-27 03:44 am (UTC)(link)
Kotetsu had no complaints about his new getup. It reminded him quite a bit of his hero suit. The fins, or whatever they were, on the helmet were a bit annoying and he was thankful that Barnaby wasn't aboard to see them.

The weapon was new, though. He'd tried swinging the lance around in a couple different places and he'd already broken a chair or two. He paused at the sound of the banjo and looked up.

"Well, that looks lethal."
halfdarkened: (Bearing down)

Made up a weapon, I know.

The very moment the creatures appeared a smirk crept its way over the dragoon's face. Riku readied himself, legs burning with adrenaline... Only to find he didn't jump at all. Anxious to act, he shifted back and forth rhythmically. "I... I can't move!" He watched in frustration as two others acted before his foot shifted from his own movements. He was free!

"Wait, what game-- Nevermind, later." Using the sudden burst of energy, he leapt high into the air. What a thrill! Dragonic indeed! Riku felt like a dragon about ready to dive into its prey. This was better than even Dark Break! He readied his Twilight Lance, ready to bear down on the Goblin...

When he just stopped. He was mid-air, hanging there. "...What? Why am I stuck here?" No matter how he tried, gravity didn't work.

These monsters definitely looked like trouble. He was a bit surprised when Hope seemed to cast some kind of spell on him...it wasn't aeroga or barrier, but it felt pretty similar. "Uhh...thanks, Hope!" he said. "Then let's take down these guys!"

He was ready to leap in and fight, only to discover that he couldn't move at all. All his struggling got him absolutely nowhere. At the same time, it didn't seem the monsters moved, either...but first Minako, and then Riku were able to attack. Except that Riku jumped up, and then remained hovering in midair. This was...an extremely weird way to fight. "I don't know...are you okay up there?"

As soon as Riku was left up there, however, he felt his limbs free up. "Finally!" He jumped forward towards the Bandersnatch, since it looked like Riku was already heading for the Goblin, and struck the wolf creature with his sword much in the same way he would with a Keyblade.

He was ready to land another blow, only to discover that he was frozen again. "So we can only do one thing at a time?"

The bandersnatch is defeated, and disappears with a screech!

The goblin moves forward and attacks Hope, taking out about a fifth of his health!

The hedgehog pie casts fire on Minako, taking out about a fourth of her health!
lastresort: (Does Hope have to... boomerang a bitch?)

"Seems that way." The way this battle was playing out felt like a strange, slow motion version of the battles he had took part with Lightning and the others.

And so much for casting Protect on the other two, Hope instead focused on casting Cure on himself, recovering the HP that he had lost.
verygassy: (hmph!)

[personal profile] verygassy 2012-08-27 01:30 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, it--GYAAAH I'M ON FIRE!?"

Thankfully the fire only lasted two seconds, but Minako feels kind of woozy afterwards.

"...Not fair." At this, Minako glared at the hedgehog pie. "Oh, you are so dead."

With that, Minako leaped over to the hedgehog pie, bringing her sword down on it.

Riku hovered there, looking one part frustrated and one part very bored. He may not have been able to move his body, but his facial expression made it blatantly clear how he felt. He watched, wishing he'd actually chosen to attack the fat little fire demon instead. In the meantime, he simply looked down at his target. "That's right. Stay right there, I'll come visit in a minute."

And then, slowly, he felt gravity begin to take hold. He smiled as he brought his lance down powerfully onto the Goblin, crashing down and landing in an impressive posture. With an equal amount of finesse, he leapt back to his starting position, readying himself for--

Nothing?

Right, stupid rules of fighting.

At least the Goblin wouldn't be bothering Hope anymore.

"Minako!"

It was pretty frustrating not being able to do anything to protect Hope or Minako while the monsters attacked them, but none of them could move while their opponents did. Sora gritted his teeth, waiting again as Hope case cure, Minako attacked the little fire demon, and Riku finally came down on the goblin.

Then it was his turn again. As soon as he was able to move, he ran forward and slashed again at the fire demon. Obviously this thing was a problem and needed to be taken down. "Take that!"

The hedgehog pie is defeated, and disappears with a dying noise!

The goblin is defeated, and disappears!

Your characters have leveled up! Sora, Hope, Minako and Riku are now Level 2!

The dimension around them vanishes, returning them to the SOL.

Xion's clothes had changed quite a bit, and though she'd gotten used to wearing so much white relatively easily, the armor was something else. It had taken her several tries just to put in on right. At least her weapon was similar enough to what she was used to. It hadn't taken long to adjust to the new sword's balance and weight.

She smiled when she saw Hughes and Kotetsu. "Actually, I knew someone who could control water by playing a sitar."

Demyx could actually be a dangerous opponent when he put his mind to it. Which wasn't very often, but the risk was there.

Roxas, Ventus, Aqua and Iron Liz

[personal profile] thirteenth_brat 2012-08-28 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
If there possibly were things hanging around to fight, Roxas really did want to find a better weapon. The staff he'd found along with the robe really was a stick, though he had to admit it had good heft to it and given time, he probably could gain some skill with it. The problem was that he might not have a whole lot of time for such practice. It was with this in mind that he wanted to head to the weapons deck and look for something else.

He'd also experimented with magic a bit and come to realize he was limited to healing and defensive spells. While Cure and Esuna were familiar enough, he only knew of Protect and Shell from having heard of them. At least he knew what they did and so sort of knew what situations he should use them in.
thewallman: (Kid Flash)

Isa, Namine, Robin, and Wally

[personal profile] thewallman 2012-08-28 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
Slow.

That was the main thing on Wally's mind as he trudged grumpily down the hall in his only clothing option - armor. True, it wasn't as heavy as it could be, but it certainly wasn't light enough to let him go at top speed. But he had to admit, it didn't look half bad. The red and gold suited him, but it was all sharp angles and unnecessary embellishments, like the cape... thing that flowed behind him. He had a helmet, too, shaped like the head of a dragon, with glimmering gold eyes and frills - fins? - sweeping back on either side of his head.

And then there was the spear - or more accurately, Wally decided, a glaive. A red and gold, double-bladed glaive, nearly as tall as he was... that he had no idea how to use.

Wally had actually left it behind when he's left his room the first time. The armor was bad enough, but a glaive? How would he even use something like that on the Satellite? What would he even have to use it against? There was a reason he didn't have these things as Kid Flash. He wasn't exactly a weapons master; that was for Rob and the Bat. Wally... When you got right down to it, he and Uncle Barry just ran fast. Really fast.

He'd only left his room for about a minute when he discovered the answers to his questions, immediately ran from them, and went back to get the thing.

So now he was left aimlessly wandering the halls on his own, holding the glaive loosely in one hand. Those... monsters were out to hurt people, something the Satellite had never done before, in Wally's experience... mostly. It disoriented them, but for the most part, the place was safe, until now. They had to contain the monsters as soon as possible, and while he hadn't encountered them since he'd grabbed his weapon, there had to be more out there.

Maybe he was scaring them away with the stupid armor clanking with every step he took. He may never have been a ninja like the Boy Wonder, but he appreciated stealth now and then, and now would definitely have been one of those times. He sighed and walked on.
gettraught: (it has been an honor)

[personal profile] gettraught 2012-08-28 04:20 am (UTC)(link)
Even the Boy Wonder was having trouble with this lot. It wasn't that Batman didn't believe in armor, specifically - it was that he believed in modern, high tech, kevlar-and-industrial-plastic type armor, and Robin's gear was even more flexible than his father's was. But he'd found his jeans, hoodies, and Robin costume completely gone that morning, and in its place was just a set of dark, pointy armor that fit him suspiciously well. He couldn't find his sunglasses either; at least the helmet concealed his face. And that was the only reason he was wearing it, as it felt too tight and constricting despite being the perfect size for his head.

Did someone manage to sneak into his room at night without him noticing and take his measurements for an SCA reenactment thing?

He was also carrying a red lance that seemed... kind of possessed. Like it wouldn't mind drinking the souls of its enemies, maybe. All right yeah it was stupid to think of a weapon that way, weapons were equipment and nothing more, but it felt like that. His eskrima sticks and various Bat-gadgets had also disappeared, so he'd taken the lance with him when he left his room. Whatever was going on, he had a feeling he'd need it.

"Wally? Come on, where are you?" Forget stealth, there was no way he could do that in armor.

Ven, rounding the corner, had to pull himself up short from smashing face-first into Roxas - which was a good idea because a full set of armor compared to a cloth robe was kind of unfair. Not to mention the armor had lots of curly spikes. All in all not too good to be running into people in. But with a quickstep he managed to avoid it by basically jumping to the left.

"Sorry! It's kind of hard to hear other people over the noise this stuff makes." Indeed, even someone who had armor of his own (normally) and was used to wearing it could still have problems with his hearing when it was all clanking together. Not to mention the scarf and the long trailing cape - who did, that, really? It was completely impractical.

At least the sword was pretty nice, and it felt good to have a real weapon in his hand again, even if he did insist on using it backwards. "Where're you off to?"
sailormagic: (completely neutral)

Sasami, Twilight, and anyone else who wants in

[personal profile] sailormagic 2012-08-28 04:49 am (UTC)(link)
Twilight didn't mind her outfit at all, considering it was a near-replica of her last Nightmare Night costume, save for the beard and the bells. Accurate as the bells were, they did tend to jingle a lot, so she wasn't too disappointed when they proved to be gone this time. Still, she knew Rarity hadn't made the costume for her and ponies tended not to wear many clothes, so to find this set literally draped over the door to the media deck was a bit disconcerting. She'd tugged it on herself and gone out to find out what was happening.

[personal profile] thirteenth_brat 2012-08-28 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
No, getting bowled over by someone in full armor wouldn't have been fun. Not that Roxas is fragile or anything, but it would still have hurt a bit.

As to Ven's question, Roxas looked at the stick wrapped in a vine staff he was carrying before replying, is a mildly pouty tone, "Going to the weapons deck."
