Random Encounters Everywhere
Characters: Anyone and everyone that wants to go questing!
Content: Characters hit various random encounters around the Satellite - Part 1
Location: Any deck
Time of Day: Throughout the day
Warnings: Fighting and violence against monsters
[This is an open party-style log! A random encounter begins when the area around your characters suddenly flashes with white light, and they find themselves transported to a flat, mostly-blank dimension. The monsters will be NPC'd reacting to your characters attacking them.]
The Satellite had certainly turned strange this week. Now, any characters wearing their now outfits were liable to suddenly find themselves in strange pocket dimensions...ones full with the most random of encounters!

He ended up jumping twice...once when Minako surprised them both (WOW that was a huge weapon), and then again when Riku jumped down to join them. "Wooah!"
"And yeah...what's a cosplayer? This looks more like knight armor to me," he added. At least on his end, it was pretty basic, red-colored armor. "So this is for some kind of quest?"
As if right on cue, the whole area around them suddenly flashed white. When the light melted away, the recreation deck had been replaced with what looked like a flat, mostly-empty arena...very few places to run to here.
Sora looked around in surprise. "...What's this?!" Was Minako right, and this was part of a quest?

Characters have the first move!

Normally he would have continued casting Protect on Minako and Riku, but for some unexplained reason, Hope couldn't do anything anymore and was pretty much rooted to the spot he was standing in.
"I think you guys need to try to kill those things."

Almost got too carried away there. With that she unsheathed her sword and leaped towards the bandersnatch, swinging with her sword. The impact with the monster created a gold heart for some reason, which floated about for several seconds before dissipating.
"All right!" Minako leaped back, about to strike again, before realizing she was now stuck where she was. "...Oh. Uh. Ok! Right, just like in a game, right! I can only take action once a turn. Damn."
Made up a weapon, I know.
"Wait, what game-- Nevermind, later." Using the sudden burst of energy, he leapt high into the air. What a thrill! Dragonic indeed! Riku felt like a dragon about ready to dive into its prey. This was better than even Dark Break! He readied his Twilight Lance, ready to bear down on the Goblin...
When he just stopped. He was mid-air, hanging there. "...What? Why am I stuck here?" No matter how he tried, gravity didn't work.
.
He was ready to leap in and fight, only to discover that he couldn't move at all. All his struggling got him absolutely nowhere. At the same time, it didn't seem the monsters moved, either...but first Minako, and then Riku were able to attack. Except that Riku jumped up, and then remained hovering in midair. This was...an extremely weird way to fight. "I don't know...are you okay up there?"
As soon as Riku was left up there, however, he felt his limbs free up. "Finally!" He jumped forward towards the Bandersnatch, since it looked like Riku was already heading for the Goblin, and struck the wolf creature with his sword much in the same way he would with a Keyblade.
He was ready to land another blow, only to discover that he was frozen again. "So we can only do one thing at a time?"

The goblin moves forward and attacks Hope, taking out about a fifth of his health!
The hedgehog pie casts fire on Minako, taking out about a fourth of her health!
no subject
And so much for casting Protect on the other two, Hope instead focused on casting Cure on himself, recovering the HP that he had lost.

Thankfully the fire only lasted two seconds, but Minako feels kind of woozy afterwards.
"...Not fair." At this, Minako glared at the hedgehog pie. "Oh, you are so dead."
With that, Minako leaped over to the hedgehog pie, bringing her sword down on it.

And then, slowly, he felt gravity begin to take hold. He smiled as he brought his lance down powerfully onto the Goblin, crashing down and landing in an impressive posture. With an equal amount of finesse, he leapt back to his starting position, readying himself for--
Nothing?
Right, stupid rules of fighting.
At least the Goblin wouldn't be bothering Hope anymore.

It was pretty frustrating not being able to do anything to protect Hope or Minako while the monsters attacked them, but none of them could move while their opponents did. Sora gritted his teeth, waiting again as Hope case cure, Minako attacked the little fire demon, and Riku finally came down on the goblin.
Then it was his turn again. As soon as he was able to move, he ran forward and slashed again at the fire demon. Obviously this thing was a problem and needed to be taken down. "Take that!"

The goblin is defeated, and disappears!
Your characters have leveled up! Sora, Hope, Minako and Riku are now Level 2!
The dimension around them vanishes, returning them to the SOL.

Pinkie blew a fanfare and released a shower of confetti, then pranced past the party to go find more victorious folks to congratulate, playing an upbeat song on her one-pony band instrument as she left.
no subject
Silence.
"...I wonder if we can choose what stats to level up too..."
Whatcha know, some intarwebz times
That is, until Pinkie popped up singing and playing that fanfare. He paused to stare a few seconds, then shrugged. It was Pinkie Pie. No other explanation needed.
And Minako's enthusiasm earned a similar response. He took a step forward towards her. "Level up? ...Look, maybe you should give us a crash course before we get attacked again."
no subject
He turned to Minako. It seemed like she had a better idea of what all that meant. "So...we get rewarded for winning? What stats do you mean?"
"And well, if that's all it takes to beat these guys...then we can definitely handle any more that come our way!"
Now that he knew how this worked, it definitely seemed doable.

"If this is anything like back home, for example, I'm not a strong as the rest of you, it's a trade off for me having the strongest magic, though."
no subject
She points to Hope.
"Of course, depending on your job, some stats will be stronger or weaker than others! Basically, Hope here, being a mage and using magic as his primary weapon, should have a high intelligence and luck, but low strength and possibly low agility to start out. Someone who uses a sword will likewise have high strength and some agility starting out, but low intelligence or luck! Or me, I probably have high intelligence and strength, but not so good luck or agility. Riku probably has a ton of strength and agility, but not so high luck and intelligence."
Behind Minako, Cambot was trying to make a projection of Minako's words, the result being lots of super-deformed figures running around with words being hastily scribbled over them.
"As you get stronger and learn different powers, you can always make your different attributes higher if you want, but you'll always your primary - your initial highest - attribute to be as strong as possible until you can't make it any stronger! Then you keep leveling up until you max out all your stats, and you'll be pretty much unstoppable!
"So let's start grinding so we can get to Level 99 ASAP!!"
Skipping Riku with permission
"Well...I don't really get what all of that means..." Sora finally admitted. Since when would using a sword or a spear determined how smart or lucky he was? But he got enough that if they kept fighting, they'd get stronger in very obvious ways and defeat even more monsters. Most importantly, if they had different strengths, that meant they had to rely on each other to pick up the slack. Sora knew how to fight that way.
"But if we stick together and keep going, then yeah, we can totally handle anything we find!"
HAD to reply. (Also read "Shipping" not "Skipping")
It was an odd concept, but Riku understood. "Basically, Sora, we're in a game. We're bound by its rules. The type of fighter we are determines unseen stats that don't apply to our normal selves, and those stats can change based on how we grow as fighters."
"And it's a good thing it doesn't apply to our normal selves." He looked to Minako and smirked teasingly. "Or I'd hope an unlucky someone with high intellegence and low agility would be smart enough not to insult the intellegence of someone with a high strength."
Riku looked to Hope. "If your magic is the strongest of us all, then your strength doesn't matter. At the end of the day, you're going to be the one saving our skins."

He was speaking from experience, of course, take out the medic first and it'll be easier to take out the rest of the party.
