Seeking Advice, part 2 [closed]
Characters: Terra & Rarity
Content: Terra thinks about what Maes told him and finds himself brooding again
Location: Wandering the SoL
Time of day: Afternoon
Warnings: None
He walked and continued to think about what Maes had told him. He knew he needed to consider his own feelings and thoughts on the matter, but it was hard to do so when his mind continued to remind him that in the end he'd have to hurt one of them (if even briefly). Deep down, Terra probably already knew who he was going to pick. The answer was obvious to anyone except for perhaps the people involved. Unfortunately, Terra was stuck so deeply within the problem that he couldn't see it, even after his talk with Maes.
Anyone passing him in the hallway could probably tell he was troubled, once again. How was he supposed to make up his mind between a girl he had just met and a girl who he couldn't decide on how to label. What WERE his feelings for Aqua and why did he have to feel so upset over a girl whom he had only just met?
Maybe he should have talked to Maes a little longer.

She rounded a corner and stopped short as she caught sight of the human walking there. She'd seen him before - he was the one Aqua liked, and his name was Terra, if she remembered correctly. A second glance told her that he looked rather broody, and given that Aqua had not yet told her what had happened when she confessed her feelings - because Rarity was certain she had by now, of course - she was fairly certain that this sort of mood meant that romantic issues had not yet been resolved between the two, or the three as the case may well be.
Well, then, it was a good thing she was here, wasn't it.
"Excuse me," she started, trotting up alongside Terra, "but I couldn't help but notice how very unhappy you look, and I was wondering if I could help at all."

He sighed and wasn't paying attention when he walked past the pony. At least, he didn't notice until she was calling out to him. Terra paused and looked down, feeling a pang of guilt that he'd walked by without so much as a wave or nod of recognition. To top it off, she had apparently seen his sour expression as well. It made sense, Terra had never been good at hiding his emotions.
He opened his mouth to say no but then thought better of it, "Maybe," he rubbed his neck, "I've gotten some advice already...but not from a girl yet." He paused, okay well she was a PONY but she was still a GIRL pony. This sort of problem was universal, right? He pushed on, "I have had two girls tell me they like me and want a relationship...but I don't want to hurt either of them and I don't know what to tell them. One of them is someone I only just met here on the satellite and the other, well, she's been my best friend since we were small."

She waited until they were in the room (which, luckily, was empty) before speaking up again. "Well," she started, closing the door rather unsubtly behind her with a rear hoof, "It seems to me the most important thing right now is for you to figure out how you feel about each of them. Obviously you can't tell them how you feel until you know yourself."

Once they were in the room, the door safely shut, he sighed and leaned back against one of the walls, arms crossed and looking at Rarity for advice. He was glad she was willing to help and probably shouldn't have been surprised by what she said next. "I...I don't know Minako well so I can't say that I have feelings one way or another for her. I know she's pretty and is really friendly. I like her but...but I'm not sure it's in the way that would result in dating her." He turned a little red in the face and looked up at the ceiling. Normally he'd look at the ground but unfortunately for him Rarity was closer to the ground and so avoiding eye contact with her wouldn't work that way. "It just...doesn't seem fair to turn her down like that though, does it? I mean, I want to stay friends with her and I don't want to hurt her."
He had decided to focus on Minako for the moment. He wasn't sure he could put what he felt for Aqua in to words.

"Any lady should know that telling your feelings to someone does not guarantee they'll share those same feelings for you," she continued. "Provided you aren't terribly rude about telling her, Minako should understand that you are not slighting her and that your lack of romantic feelings for her is not any of her fault. It's simply how these sort of things go sometimes. If you're already friendly with her, then she'll probably want to stay friends. Of course, it might be a little awkward at first, but I'm sure you'll work through that just fine." Because Terra was not in any way, shape, or form awkward.
Well, maybe it would simply take him longer to work through it.
"What about the second girl?" Rarity continued on, shaking off that thought. "How do you feel about her?"

He shuffled awkwardly as he took in what she was saying. Much like his conversation with Maes Hughes, he could see the validity of Rarity's advice and it made sense. The hard part would be how to put it GENTLY of course, but that was something he would have to consider later.
Unfortunately, they were now at the more difficult part of the conversation. Terra's feelings for Aqua. Silence hung in the air as he closed his eyes and thought about her, trying to figure out a way to put what he felt about her into words. "Well she's...she's Aqua. She's one of the first people who ever actually cared about me...she's smart and strong." He shook his head, there was so much to say, "I admire her, but I've also done some things that...well, it's probably not good for a rel-this sort of thing. I've known her since we were kids so I've...I've never really thought about what she means to me. Sure, we're friends, we've always cared about each other and looked out for each other. How do I know I love her though? That's such a big thing." Throughout the speech he found his hands moving and gesturing in a variety of ways, usually out of agitation because he wasn't sure this was helping Rarity figure out what he should do at all and partly because it didn't seem like the RIGHT words. Finally he just slumped, his hands falling to his side again, "But I've never felt this way about anyone and...and it's different from how I see Ven or Minako or any friend I've had."

He felt like he'd been much happier when he HADN'T had to label his feelings for Aqua. He had been content with the warm feeling he got in his chest when he looked at her or was with her...this was just unbareable in a way...but perhaps it would lead to something better. He certainly hoped it would.

And then he started talking about being an idiot. Oh, no. Not on Rarity's watch.
"Now you listen here!" She marched over to him and reared up, putting one forehoof on the wall next to him for balance and poking him pointedly in the stomach with the other. "You are not an idiot. You are in love with a very lovely young lady, and you are going to march right over to where she is and tell her exactly how you feel. Is that clear?" She punctuated the question with another poke.

He practically jumped when Rarity's tone changed and she became MUCH more vocal and started jabbing him with a forceful hoof. The hoof didn't hurt so much as it emphasized her point. He frowned slightly, "You mean...right now? I don't...I don't even know where she is!" Not that finding her would be the problem, he just wasn't sure he was ready to face Aqua even though he'd been putting it off for FAAAR too long now.

He gave one last look over his shoulder at Rarity before sighing again and exiting before she decided to do something more drastic than a hip-check. He wouldn't put it past Rarity to drag him all the way to Aqua herself, smaller size or not.
