Seeking Advice, part 2 [closed]

Characters: Terra & Rarity
Content: Terra thinks about what Maes told him and finds himself brooding again
Location: Wandering the SoL
Time of day: Afternoon
Warnings: None

He walked and continued to think about what Maes had told him. He knew he needed to consider his own feelings and thoughts on the matter, but it was hard to do so when his mind continued to remind him that in the end he'd have to hurt one of them (if even briefly). Deep down, Terra probably already knew who he was going to pick. The answer was obvious to anyone except for perhaps the people involved. Unfortunately, Terra was stuck so deeply within the problem that he couldn't see it, even after his talk with Maes.

Anyone passing him in the hallway could probably tell he was troubled, once again. How was he supposed to make up his mind between a girl he had just met and a girl who he couldn't decide on how to label. What WERE his feelings for Aqua and why did he have to feel so upset over a girl whom he had only just met?

Maybe he should have talked to Maes a little longer.

Over the past week, Rarity had been doing what she usually did when she had a large sewing project: she stayed in her room and sewed almost all day, stopping for meals and naps and to occasionally freshen up a bit, because you never knew when somepony special might drop by unexpectedly. For the most part, she was finished - there was some fine detail work still to be done, but with her magic on the fritz, she needed to convince someone with fingers to help her out. For now, she was wandering the halls, canvassing the walls to see where the best locations for her project would be. There was something to be said for making decorations for the entire Satellite - namely that it was quite a large undertaking, and there was quite a bit of wall to canvas yet.

She rounded a corner and stopped short as she caught sight of the human walking there. She'd seen him before - he was the one Aqua liked, and his name was Terra, if she remembered correctly. A second glance told her that he looked rather broody, and given that Aqua had not yet told her what had happened when she confessed her feelings - because Rarity was certain she had by now, of course - she was fairly certain that this sort of mood meant that romantic issues had not yet been resolved between the two, or the three as the case may well be.

Well, then, it was a good thing she was here, wasn't it.

"Excuse me," she started, trotting up alongside Terra, "but I couldn't help but notice how very unhappy you look, and I was wondering if I could help at all."

"Oh?" The trick here was to act as though she didn't already know the entire situation. It wasn't difficult - Terra seemed quite distraught; she doubted he would have noticed either way. "Hmm." Spotting an open door ahead of them, she pushed her haunch against his waist as they walked, effectively herding him towards it. "This seems like the sort of thing better discussed in private," she suggested, as though he actually had a choice in the matter. Of all the places to be talking about romantic issues, the hallway where anypony could overhear was certainly not one of the best.

She waited until they were in the room (which, luckily, was empty) before speaking up again. "Well," she started, closing the door rather unsubtly behind her with a rear hoof, "It seems to me the most important thing right now is for you to figure out how you feel about each of them. Obviously you can't tell them how you feel until you know yourself."

Rarity waited, listening to Terra figure out what to say. It was obvious he had no idea how this sort of thing worked - lucky he had her to set him straight on a few matters. First things first, however. "I don't think the ceiling can help you, dear," she stated. It was rather rude not to look at somepony when you were talking to them, but chastisement over his lack of manners was likely the last thing Terra needed right now.

"Any lady should know that telling your feelings to someone does not guarantee they'll share those same feelings for you," she continued. "Provided you aren't terribly rude about telling her, Minako should understand that you are not slighting her and that your lack of romantic feelings for her is not any of her fault. It's simply how these sort of things go sometimes. If you're already friendly with her, then she'll probably want to stay friends. Of course, it might be a little awkward at first, but I'm sure you'll work through that just fine." Because Terra was not in any way, shape, or form awkward.

Well, maybe it would simply take him longer to work through it.

"What about the second girl?" Rarity continued on, shaking off that thought. "How do you feel about her?"

This part was a bit tougher, partially because Terra simply didn't seem to know what to say. The way he was saying it, however, made things crystal clear by the end, especially coupled with what he did say at the end. "Ah," she commented simply, because by this point it had become very obvious, "so you do have feelings for her, then."

Terra still didn't seem the most confident about any of this, and Rarity couldn't blame him - this sort of thing was difficult on one's first go-around. "Well, yes," she commented thoughtfully, putting a hoof to her chin, "it is rather rude to keep a lady waiting, but I do think you have your answer already. You said you wanted to stay friends with Minako and that you didn't want to hurt her feelings, but with Aqua, you couldn't bear the thought of losing her. That's your answer right there, now, isn't it."

And then he started talking about being an idiot. Oh, no. Not on Rarity's watch.

"Now you listen here!" She marched over to him and reared up, putting one forehoof on the wall next to him for balance and poking him pointedly in the stomach with the other. "You are not an idiot. You are in love with a very lovely young lady, and you are going to march right over to where she is and tell her exactly how you feel. Is that clear?" She punctuated the question with another poke.

"Yes, right now!" Honestly, boys could be so dense about this sort of thing. "You've known her for a very long time, have you not? Then you should know the sort of places she likes to go! It's just the same as my knowing to find Fluttershy wherever there are animals or Pinkie Pie wherever there's a party or cupcakes! You know where to find her!" Rarity took a step back, turned a quarter-turn to the right, took aim, and rammed her hindquarters against Terra's hips, effectively hip-checking him in the direction of the door. "Now go!"
