[Pinkie's announcement after Discord's defeat wasn't just hot air. As soon as five minutes after the chaos god's last cry echoed throughout the ship, there's already music blaring out the open doors of the recreation deck. As if in defiance of Discord's attack on her there, Pinkie's filled the place with even MORE balloons than typical for one of her parties. Above the main refreshment table - which is clearly the one with the biggest cake on it - there's a few banners. The topmost one reads SO LONG DISCORD! Right below it is a smaller one saying SORRY FOR BEING A MEANIE. The bottom one is a little larger and written in a different color HAPPY LATE HEARTS AND HOOVES DAY! In all the chaos, she'd completely FORGOTTEN a holiday; could you believe it? But she was totally going to make it up now, with a party to beat all parties!]

Sora grinned, happy to get Namine to open up and try to sing. He never thought much about what someone might think of his performance...to him, it was about the fun of doing it.

"Of course!" he replied. He headed up towards where the machine had been set up...there had to be a good song in there for Namine to try. Something easy, but fun.

Namine's nervousness in front of crowds had less to with nervousness regarding being judged and more to do with awkwardness regarding a level of attention she wasn't used to. Having spent most of her life trying to avoid being noticed, seeking attention went against the grain. Still, she reasoned that she could try this once, and if she didn't like it she didn't have to do it again.

She followed Sora to the machine and began looking through the songs. There was one called 'Out There' that looked nice. "Maybe this one?"

Sora had never much had to worry about avoiding attention to himself...but growing up on a small island, everyone was bound to end up in the spotlight at least for a little while, so it didn't pay too much to be shy. Plus, he wasn't much like that anyway.

He looked at the song she picked...he didn't recognize it, but it didn't seem too fast, and looked like it had nice lyrics. "Give it a try!"

Considering who's Nobody she was, one might call Namine's shyness a learned behavior. The less one showed up on Marluxia's/the Organization's radar, the better.

"Okay!" After taking a moment to read over the instructions, she cued up the song in the machine. There was barely time to find the microphone before the music started. She began singing softly, but that seemed to work with well the music. Her voice grew stronger after the first verse.

"And out there, living in the sun, give me one day out there, all I ask is one, to hold forever..."

Since this song worked pretty well as a solo, Sora let her do all the singing, just nodding along with the lyrics. She started out rather quiet, but got a little more confidence as she went.

And even though he wasn't supposed to be singing, Sora felt like he had some strange urge to sing along. This was the first time he'd heard the tune, but it seemed to be familiar as she sang it. So he just settled for doing a bit of mock conducting as she continued.

Namine smiled at the mock conducting, and took it as encouragement. Really, this wasn't as difficult as she'd thought it would be. There hadn't been any need to worry about not knowing the song; it was like she'd already known the words somehow, so there was no worry about keeping up with the words as they appeared on the screen. Even when the tempo picked up a bit, she had no trouble.

Before she knew it, she'd reached the end of the song. "Won't resent, won't despair, old and bent, I wont care--I'll have spent one day out there~"

Sora continued his conducting through the song, and when Namine finished, gave her a bit of applause. It really looked like she'd gotten the hang of it!

"See? It wasn't that hard!" And it seemed like some of the crowd here had appreciated it, too.

Namine blushed a little at the applause, but smiled. "Thank you. It wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be."

Fun as it had been, she was ready for her turn to be finished. She held the mic out to Sora. "Would you like to try to one.?"

"Yeah, sure," he said. He wasn't going to force Namine to do more than she wanted, and he still felt that weird urge to sing, anyway. The question now was...what song would be a good one to do?

He stepped up to the machine and began scanning through the same folder Namine had been looking in. There was a wide variety of songs, none of which he actually recognized the titles, but they still felt familiar somehow. He settled on one called "Go The Distance," that was listed under 'Hercules' -huh, had someone actually did songs about Hercules the way they'd made a movie about Ariel?- but he liked the sound of the lyrics.

"Let's try this one!"

Though Namine hadn't expected to sing anymore, and was grateful that Sora didn't press her to sing another solo, she hung around to see what song he'd choose. It looked like a good one, and she was ready to sit back and listen when he made his suggestion.

"'Let's'? You mean both of us?"

"No, it's okay, I can just do this one!" he assured her. Maybe later they could choose one that would work well as a duet.

He cued up the song, pulled up the microphone, and started in on it. It seemed to start off slow for now, and Sora was eager for it to get stronger and louder.

"I have often dreamed of a far off place...where a hero's welcome, Will be waiting for me~"

Namine nodded, relieved that she could slip back into the background for the moment. Singing like that had been fun, but she wouldn't want to do it often.

She moved back to give him some space, and smiled as he began to sing. Soon she found herself starting to hum along quietly, though never close to actually singing.

Meanwhile, Sora was perfectly fine with taking the spotlight here. He continued on through the song, and like the previous one, somehow knowing all the words and tune despite having never heard it before.

As it picked up, Sora also picked up in volume, really getting into the spirit of things.

"I will find my way, I can go the distance,
I'll be there someday, If I can be strong~"

The song seemed familiar to Namine for some reason as well, though it fit Sora's personality better than hers. She hummed along as he sang, occasionally mouthing the words.

Sora continued through the song, casting a smile in Namine's direction every once in awhile. It looked she was getting into it just as much has he had with the song she sang.

And eventually, he came to the end of it, belting out the lyrics by the end:

"I know ev'ry mile, will be worth my while,
I would go most anywhere, to find where I belooong!"

Namine really was enjoying herself, and clapped quietly for him when he finished.

"Good job!"
