Triple Terrific Party Time! [OPEN]

Characters: Pinkie Pie, open
Content: So many things to celebrate, so little time!
Location: The recreation deck
Warnings: Zidane may not be genocidal anymore, but he does have a certain karaoke machine...

[Pinkie's announcement after Discord's defeat wasn't just hot air. As soon as five minutes after the chaos god's last cry echoed throughout the ship, there's already music blaring out the open doors of the recreation deck. As if in defiance of Discord's attack on her there, Pinkie's filled the place with even MORE balloons than typical for one of her parties. Above the main refreshment table - which is clearly the one with the biggest cake on it - there's a few banners. The topmost one reads SO LONG DISCORD! Right below it is a smaller one saying SORRY FOR BEING A MEANIE. The bottom one is a little larger and written in a different color HAPPY LATE HEARTS AND HOOVES DAY! In all the chaos, she'd completely FORGOTTEN a holiday; could you believe it? But she was totally going to make it up now, with a party to beat all parties!]

"I see..." Xion calmed visibly at that explanation, though she still looked thoughtful. On an objective level, she knew that missions had been dangerous, and she'd never known a time without missions. So he was probably right, and danger had always been a part of her life. She was starting to grasp how long injuries took to heal without the quick fixes she was used to, but it still took her by surprise. "Sorry. I guess I overreacted a bit."

She gave a slightly sheepish smile.

"You're not used to it." His own smile was meant to be comforting. "Welcome to a normal life." Riku gave her upper arm a slight pat before heading over to a table and pulling up a chair. He motioned with his head for her to follow if she wanted. The teen sat down slowly, looking more like he was 76 than 16. he already had the silver hair, after all.

"So if you're used to magic, how often did you use it? Did you use cure every time you got a bruise or a paper cut?" The question was sincere, rather than mocking.

Well, that got Xion to actually smile a tiny bit as she followed him to join him at the table. Not that she was sure that life on the satellite could be called normal by any means, but her abilities here were much closer to those of a normal teenager.

She shook her head in response to his question. "No, we saved it for missions, when we needed it most." Like when they got hurt really badly, or a lot of small injuries had piled up.

As Xion came up, he scooted a chair out for her after he was seated. He bent a little more than he intended and winced slightly. It wasn't the best thought out idea.

Riku nodded. It was refreshing to know somehow, that she still dealt with the little annoyances that came with life rather than just magic them away. "Makes sense." He leaned his elbows on the table. "Funny how I can remember a time when I could break a bone and just take it easy and let it heal. It seems like yesterday, but at the same time, it feels like a million years ago."

Xion smiled her thanks and took over getting the chair out and getting herself situated.

As far as dealing with little annoyances like letting small injuries heal on their own, that had been a given. You either conserved your magic for when you needed it or risked not having it available on a mission. Not to mention how Saix would have reacted...Though he was also annoyed when they went on a mission in anything less than top condition. "It must be nice, I guess, just letting things heal in their own way. I wonder if we'll be here long enough for me to get used to that.

"Don't get me wrong. There's a difference between being able to take the time to let it heal and having to deal with the pain to do that." He paused and looked at his arms. "...Then again, magic and potions don't leave scars for you to talk about, I guess." His skin wasn't as flawless as a first glance would lead most to believe. But the scars were small, few, old and very faint, remnants of his childhood. There was no record of his mid-teen years on his skin. Sora was probably the same.

"I hope we're not here that long. It's nice having a vacation, but I've got people back home to get to. Things to... address." There was a slight touch of dread in his voice, but it was firm enough that it was clear he wasn't going to back down from it.

Xion nodded thoughtfully. If there was one good thing about magic and potions, it was that the pain of any serious injury ended quickly. She hadn't thought about scars, but it was true that her skin was unmarked save for a few small lines. "Everything has it's good points and bad points, right?"

"I guess this is a vacation in some ways." She smiled briefly before turning serious. She didn't know much about Riku's past, so she didn't know what he was referring to, but she knew the feeling of having unfinished business. "We'll get out of here someday."
halfdarkened: (Pondering)

[personal profile] halfdarkened 2012-03-11 07:06 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah. ...Fair enough." Ironically, if Xion had made the same comment, he would have said it was better that way. It was a double-standard that Kairi would have called him out on. Girls didn't need battle scars. Boys need to wear proof like a medal. Perhaps women believed each other than men did. Riku's eyes narrowed as he mulled something over, placing a hand over his chest. "...Hearts can carry scars too, can't they?"

"I know." His voice was still firm. "We need to start trying some new things."

[personal profile] skysmirror 2012-03-12 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
If he had made that comment aloud, Xion would have called him on it too. Really, if it was okay for boys to have scars, then why say it's good for girls to not have any. He hadn't though, so she was free to focus on his question. She nodded. "I think they can."

That's how the shadows had managed to hurt them, after all.

"Do you have any ideas?" She hadn't been able to look into much, what with everything going on.
halfdarkened: (introspective)

[personal profile] halfdarkened 2012-03-15 06:22 am (UTC)(link)
"...A powerful Heartless once played puppetmaster with me." His shoulders rose and fell with a silent deep breath. "I wonder if my heart's all scarred up." Slowly Riku's hand went over his chest.

"No." His reply sounded a little bitter. "Any vehicles taken very far get stranded and have to be hauled back."
skysmirror: (Thinky thoughts)

[personal profile] skysmirror 2012-03-16 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
Xion had to think for a moment before answering. When she finally did, her voice was quieter than usual. "Maybe. But maybe those scars mean what the others do--you were hurt, and now you're healed, or trying to heal."

Her next response came out at normal volume and sound more confident. "Then we'll have to start looking around to see if there's anything else here that can help."
halfdarkened: (Silence)

[personal profile] halfdarkened 2012-03-19 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
Riku gave her a nod. "But what doesn't kill me makes me stronger." There was a determined tone in his voice.

"Problem is, from what I'm hearing, the world, Earth, doesn't have any other-worldly travel. And 'outer space' doesn't act like Interspace. It's dangerous, especially for your heart to be in Interspace without the right gear. Outer space will kill you in seconds." He crossed his arms in thought.

"Right" Xion nodded back.

"Really? I knew that it was dangerous, but I didn't know that." She knew enough to understand that there was a reason they needed special gear to explore near the satellite, but that was about it.
halfdarkened: (...)

Well, technically it would be almost 2 minutes, minor glitch. Not like he knows.

[personal profile] halfdarkened 2012-03-20 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
"I hear all the liquid in you evaporates. There's no air, but since it's a vacuum and no pressure, the air inside you..." He makes a face. Not even Riku really wants to think about that.
skysmirror: (Default)

XD Also, yeah, I think that's a good stopping place for the Nami thread

[personal profile] skysmirror 2012-03-21 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
Xion made a face as well--it didn't sound pleasant. "It looks like we'll need a bit more time to work out a way home, then."
halfdarkened: (Silence)

Okies!

[personal profile] halfdarkened 2012-03-30 05:20 am (UTC)(link)
He sighs. "At this rate it looks like we got all the time in the world."
skysmirror: (Thinky thoughts)

Maybe wrap up here, soon?

[personal profile] skysmirror 2012-04-01 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
"They have to let us go sometime--or we'll think of something." It wasn't very optimistic, but it was the best Xion could think of at the moment.
halfdarkened: (Listen Up)

Sure thing!

[personal profile] halfdarkened 2012-04-01 02:12 pm (UTC)(link)
"They don't have to do anything for us," Riku remarked. "But there's no way I'm going to turn 18 on this scrap heap." He held out a hand, palm forward and fingers up, as one does when expecting a five back. They'd both work through this. He knew they would.

Xion nodded, then smiled at what he said. After a moment of confusion, she lightly touched his palm for a high-five. Remembering something Axel had taught her, she then formed her hand into a fist, knuckles facing him.

Yeah, she's a girl, but she can still offer a brofist, right?
halfdarkened: (Quiet laugh)

(Done?)

[personal profile] halfdarkened 2012-04-03 05:28 am (UTC)(link)
Riku raised his brows a bit when she gave him such a light high-five. However, when she formed a fist, he just smiled.

It was something he wouldn't put past Kairi doing.

The smile slid into a smirk, and he bumped his knuckles against hers. Yes, a girl can definitely brofist.
