Triple Terrific Party Time! [OPEN]

Content: So many things to celebrate, so little time!

Warnings: Zidane may not be genocidal anymore, but he does have a certain karaoke machine...

[Pinkie's announcement after Discord's defeat wasn't just hot air. As soon as five minutes after the chaos god's last cry echoed throughout the ship, there's already music blaring out the open doors of the recreation deck. As if in defiance of Discord's attack on her there, Pinkie's filled the place with even MORE balloons than typical for one of her parties. Above the main refreshment table - which is clearly the one with the biggest cake on it - there's a few banners. The topmost one reads SO LONG DISCORD! Right below it is a smaller one saying SORRY FOR BEING A MEANIE. The bottom one is a little larger and written in a different color HAPPY LATE HEARTS AND HOOVES DAY! In all the chaos, she'd completely FORGOTTEN a holiday; could you believe it? But she was totally going to make it up now, with a party to beat all parties!]

Sora and Ven were definitely very good at...encouraging each other in their ideas.

She gave him a sympathetic smile. "I hadn't been to one before I got here, myself. It seems like what most people do is eat snacks and talk to friends--old and new. It's a good chance to meet people you might have only talked to through Cambot. "

He'd never really gotten a chance to goof off and just be a teenager before! Just this once? Please? And really it's Sora you've gotta worry more about in that duo, Ven just kind of followed along...

"Yeah? That doesn't sound too bad. The way some of the others have talked about these things, it sounded like she was going to... I don't know, flood the entire swimming pool with chocolate or something."

Goofing off and just being a teenager is fine! Just no getting hurt, okay? And Nami's pretty good at guessing who the ringleader was--after putting Sora's memories back together, she knows him pretty well, in a way.

"No, she's never done that." Namine looked surprised at the idea. "Mostly she just plans, and makes the decorations and food."

He'll try, but he is a teenage boy - they kind of have a talent for that.

"Someone filled that small tub up on the recreation deck with chocolate when all the bathtubs were on the blink." He knew who did that perfectly well, but he's keeping the identity to himself. He doesn't want to embarrass the poor girl. "And things tend to be weird here, from what I've seen. Who knows what they'll throw at us next?"

Namine was beginning to discover this fact, though she really should have guessed it already, having had access to Sora's memories of all the times he got hurt.

She remembered the incident he mentioned, though, and stifled a laugh with one hand. "I know who that was, and no, it wasn't Pinkie." If he wasn't naming names, she wouldn't either. "You really don't know what will happen next."

Sometimes it was fun, sometimes it was tiring. What it wasn't was boring.

Aaaand Ven's entire face just went red, all the way out to his ears. She knew about that? She knew who did that? ...Did she know why she did that? Did everyone know about that?

Ven was really tempted now to just go curl up in a corner and die from embarrassment. He was never going to be able to forget that one. Ever.

"Uhhhh... Y-Yeah..."

Namine looked concerned; she hadn't meant to embarrass him! She really didn't know much more than who had done it (some Cambot conversations were quickly deemed "not for her" and skipped), and had been laughing at the idea of swimming in chocolate more than anything else.

"I'm sorry, maybe I shouldn't have mentioned that..."

"N-No, I mentioned it, it's okay." Ven made a valiant effort to get control over the blushing, and succeeded - partway, at least. He was still kind of red, but damnit, this was his first party, he was going to try and enjoy himself! "I said it first - you were just following the conversation."

And he gave her a smile to reassure her. Hopefully it'd work? At least Naminé didn't seem like the type to tease him relentlessly, unlike most of the guys he knew.

Namine relaxed a little at the smile. She really wasn't the type to tease someone about something they were obviously embarrassed/upset about; wouldn't even bring up sore topics unless she was familiar with the person and thought that was what was needed to get them to back down from bothering someone else.

"I guess so..." She cast about for another subject. "Have you found Terra or Aqua yet? They sometimes come to these parties."

He shook his head, hooking his hands behind it as he shifted his weight on his feet. "Not yet, but they'll turn up sooner or later. It's been kind of a long week for everyone, after all. You happy not to have four legs anymore?"

Namine's eyes widened for a moment at what she was used to thinking of as a very "Sora" gesture, then the smiled. "It's nice to be the way I'm used to being, yes. How about you"'

~~Sora stole it from him.~~ "Well... I do miss not being able to fly. I just learned how at home pretty recently, but it's a lot of fun. Even if you get hurt." He gave another grin at that because he knew she would be thinking about that. Heck, he would be. "But it really is pretty awesome - being up in the air and getting to move so fast, seeing everything from so high up... I think aside from the Keyblade, that's what I miss the most about being here."

"I guess everyone has a few accidents while they're learning." She returned his grin with a smile. "It sounds nice."

She paused for a moment, thinking. "So you can use a Keyblade?"

And he nodded. "Uh-huh. We all can - Terra even made me another wooden Keyblade when I came here." He smiled at that thought again; Ven really did smile a lot. "I left my old one with Peter Pan in Neverland, so it was really nice for him to do that."

And he glanced over at her again, a bit curiously. "What about you? Can you?"

Ven's smiles were catching; Namine's stayed on her face as he was explaining about his friends. "He's good at making them, isn't he? I know some of the others asked for one as well, and he made one for all of them."

Her expression clouded over at his question. "No, I can't."

"Yeah, he's gotten a lot better at them, too. He told me once that the first one he made took months - that's the one he gave me when he didn't need it anymore." And it had since been snapped in half, but that he didn't know. As far as he was concerned, Peter was keeping it safe for him.

But his smile turns into a look of confusion at her response. "Really? It kind of seems like you should be able to. You've kind of got that... air, I guess."

"Practice helps a lot." Her drawings had gotten better as she'd done more of them--it made sense that something like carving would work the same way. "So he gave you the first one he made?"

She shook her head. "We've never tried to see if I could. Besides, I have...other abilities. At least, when I'm not here."

She doesn't always like to talk about what she can do, though.

"Yeah, we were training one day and I wasn't really getting anywhere, or at least I didn't think I was. I was still using a wooden sword then - we're not allowed to practice with our real Keyblades for awhile - and Terra was using his wooden practice one. Aqua tried to cheer me up by saying that I was learning, but I didn't really buy it, and finally Terra stood up and recited the Inheritance Ceremony and gave me his practice weapon." Ven's smile was softer, more nostalgic - it's one of his best memories, it really is. "I kept it with me every day after that until I got to Neverland. It was just right to leave it there."

He didn't quite get that hint, though, and looked at her in curiosity. "Really? What are they?"

His story made Namine smile a little. She didn't know Terra and Aqua that well, but they obviously cared about Ven and what he'd described sounded like something they'd do to cheer him up. "So there's a ceremony?"

At his question, she looked down, studying her feet as she scuffed her shoes lightly on the floor. Her voice grew softer as she spoke. "It's not something I like to talk about."

"Yeah, a Master offers you their Keyblade, and you touch it. And they recite a special poem that binds the Keyblade to you, and if you have the strength of heart to wield it, then one day you'll have your own Keyblade, too. It's a pretty serious thing, so they really make certain you don't do it lightly."

And Ven couldn't fail to notice her reaction to his question, and the nostalgic smile fell off his face as he realized that he caused her distress, even unintentionally. "Hey, it's okay. You don't have to if you don't want to - I'm sorry I asked."

"Nothing to be sorry for." She looked up and managed a smile to try to reassure him. He hadn't known, after all, and it had been a reasonable question. Maybe sometime she'd tell him her story, but not in such a public place. 'So it isn't the keyblade choosing the wielder, but a master choosing a student who has potential."

This was the first time Namine had heard that version of things. That said, none of them knew a lot about keyblades, and Namine's area of expertise was memories, and the chains they formed in a heart.

Ven could understand - there was a lot about him that he didn't like talking about, too. He'd told Roxas and Sora, but that was... Roxas and Sora, and if their theories were correct, they were all pretty much joined together anyway. Other people, though? Yeah, not right away. He let it go; if she ever felt like talking about it in the future, he'd listen, but he wouldn't ask about it again.

"That's the way it happened for us - or at least I'm guessing it happened that way with me, I can't really remember. It definitely happened like that with Terra and Aqua. But Sora said he didn't have a master, so maybe there's some other way things can work, too."

Namine had her own theories regarding Ven's connection to Sora and the memories she'd found while repairing his, but, right now really wasn't the time or place. Their stories could wait.

His mention of a lack of memory piqued her interest, but that too could wait. "I think your situations were different. You had time for a teacher to find you and learn a bit more gradually; from what I understand, Sora didn't."

"Yeah, it sounds like everything was pretty... haphazard, I guess, for him and Riku. If things were that bad, then it's no wonder they had to learn fast."

But he looked just a little troubled at that thought, because... well...

"But... it's not that much longer after us, not in the big picture. So where were Terra and Aqua when everything was going on?"

"They did--if they hadn't, then the Organization might have won."

There was more, but Namine wasn't going to tell him that here. What she'd let on was enough.

"I'm not sure where they were...Maybe we should talk about it later with some of the others?"
